A version for the Wii U was released in March 2013 in North America and Europe as The Amazing Spider-Man: Ultimate Edition in both regions. A PlayStation Vita version was also released in November 2013. A sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, was released in April 2014, loosely based on the film's sequel.

The story loosely follows the plot of the film; while most of the villains featured are also present in the game, the focus shifts towards new threats for Spider-Man to face, mainly crime lord Wilson Fisk, who poses as a respectable businessman and creates a private police force hunt him dwon, and serial killer Cletus Kasady, who sees himself a dark reflection of Spider-Man.

In the film, Peter Parker deals with his relationship with Gwen Stacy as he investigates his parents' murder, while also facing the supervillain Electro, and the return of his childhood friend Harry Osborn, who is dying from a deadly genetic disease that killed his father.
