
The 3rd African Youth Games took place in Algiers, Algeria from 18 to 28 July 2018. The Games featured approximately 3,300 athletes from 55 African countries who competed in 30 sports. Algiers was awarded the games by Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa in 2014.

The 2018 Asian Junior Athletics Championships was the 18th edition of the international athletics competition for Asian under-20 athletes, organised by the Asian Athletics Association and the Japan Association of Athletics Federations. Athletes born between 1999 and 2002 competed in 44 events, divided evenly between the sexes. The competition took place over four days from 7–10 June at Gifu Nagaragawa Stadium in Gifu, Japan.

The 2018 Asian Men's Junior Handball Championship will be the 16th edition of the championship scheduled to be held from 16 to 26 July 2018 at Salalah, Oman under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation. It will be the first time in history that championship will be organised in Oman by the Oman Handball Association. It also acts as the qualification tournament for the 2019 Men's Junior World Handball Championship. Top three teams from the championship will directly qualify for the Junior World Championship to be held in Spain.

The 2018 Asian Men's Youth Handball Championship was the 8th edition of the championship held from 16 to 26 September 2018 at Amman (Jordan) under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation. It was the third time in history that championship was organised in Jordan by the Jordan Handball Federation. The top four teams qualified for the 2019 Men's Youth World Handball Championship to be held in Republic of Macedonia.

The 2018 Biathlon Junior World Championships was held in Otepää, Estonia from 26 February to 4 March 2018. There was a total of 16 competitions: sprint, pursuit, individual and relay races for men and women.

The 2018 BWF World Junior Championships was the twentieth edition of the BWF World Junior Championships. It was held in Markham, Canada at Markham Pan Am Centre from 5 to 18 November 2018. This was the second time Canada had hosted the Badminton World Junior Championships.

The 2018 European Men's U-18 Handball Championship was the fourteenth edition of the European Men's U-18 Handball Championship, held in Varaždin and Koprivnica, Croatia from 9 to 19 August 2018.

The 2018 FIBA U16 European Championship was the 32nd edition of the Under-16 European Basketball Championship. The competition took place from 10 to 18 August 2018 in Novi Sad, Serbia. Sixteen (16) teams are participating, including 2017 Division B top three finishers.

The 2018 FIBA U20 European Championship was the 21st edition of the FIBA U20 European Championship. The competition took place in Chemnitz, Germany from 14 to 22 July 2018. It was won by Israel.

The 2018 FIBA U20 European Championship Division B was the 14th edition of the Division B of the FIBA U20 European Championship, the second-tier level of the European Under-20 basketball championship. The tournament was played in Sofia, Bulgaria, from 13 to 22 July 2018.

The 2018 FIBA Under-17 Women's Basketball World Cup was an international basketball competition held from 21 to 29 July 2018 in Minsk, Belarus. It was the fifth edition of the FIBA Under-17 Women's Basketball World Cup. Sixteen national teams competed in the tournament.

The 2018–19 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final and ISU Junior Grand Prix Final took place from 6 to 9 December 2018 at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The combined event was the culmination of two international series — the Grand Prix of Figure Skating and the Junior Grand Prix. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing on the senior and junior levels.

The 24th South American U18 Championships in Athletics were held in Concordia, Argentina on 30 June and 1 July 2018.

The 2018 South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics was the eighth edition of the biennial track and field competition for South American athletes aged under 23 years old, organised by CONSUDATLE.

The 2018 Summer Youth Olympics, officially known as the III Summer Youth Olympic Games, and commonly known as Buenos Aires 2018, were an international sports, cultural, and educational event held in Buenos Aires, Argentina between 6 and 18 October 2018. They were the first Summer Youth Olympic Games held outside of Asia, and the first Youth Games for either summer or winter held outside Eurasia. It was the second Olympic Games held in South America after the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
