
A private view is a special viewing of an exhibition by invitation only, often an art exhibition and normally a preview at the start of a public exhibition. Typically wine and light refreshments are served in the form of a reception. If the works on show are by a living artist, it is normal for them to attend the private view. Artworks on view are typically for sale.

Museum Night is an annual event in Croatia. During one night in the year, the entrance fee to most of the museums in Croatia is waived. Museum Night was first held in December 2005, with only six museums from Zagreb area participating, drawing 10,000 visitors. The event evolved to include museums in the rest of Croatia in the following years, with over 200 museums participating. In 2014, there were 360,000 museum-goers during the Museum Night, with 800 performances held.

The annual MuseWeb conference is the leading international conference in the field of museums and their websites. It was founded and organized by Archives & Museum Informatics and took place each Spring in North America from 1997 to 2011. Since then has been organized by Museums and the Web LLC and Co-Chaired by Nancy Proctor and Rich Cherry, who also co-edit the proceedings.

Museums at Night is a twice-yearly festival of late openings, sleepovers and special events taking place in museums, galleries, libraries, archive and heritage sites in the United Kingdom. It is affiliated with the European Night of Museums programme, and takes place on weekends in late May and late October.

Pink Floyd: Their Mortal Remains was an exhibition on the history of the British rock band Pink Floyd, opening on 13 May 2017 at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England, and originally scheduled to run until 1 October. After high visitor numbers, the exhibition's run was extended by two weeks, to 15 October 2017. It followed the V&As successful David Bowie Is exhibition.

Winnie-the-Pooh: Exploring a Classic is an exhibition on the history of the Winnie-the-Pooh books, currently running since 1 September 2020 at the Royal Ontario Museum and is set to close on 17 January 2021. It was originally planned to run from 7 March 2020 to 3 August 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is located inside the Roloff Beny Gallery within the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal.
