Crab soccer, or crab football, is an informal sport played by two teams, commonly in physical education classes. As with regular soccer, the objective is to kick an inflated ball into a goal to score the most points. Unlike soccer, players support themselves on their hands and move with their feet, in motions that make them look like crabs, a method known as crab walking. Crab soccer can be played either outdoors or in a gymnasium, and is more commonly thought of as being a sport mostly played by children. The game can be played with a regular soccer ball, but is often played with a cage ball.

Cycle-ball, also known as "radball", is a sport similar to association football played on bicycles. The two people on each team ride a fixed gear bicycle with no brakes or freewheel. The ball is controlled by the bike and the head, except when defending the goal.
Five-a-side football is a variation of association football, in which each team fields five players. Other differences from football include a smaller pitch, smaller goals, and a reduced game duration. Matches are played indoors, or outdoors on artificial grass pitches that may be enclosed within a barrier or "cage" to prevent the ball from leaving the playing area and keep the game constantly flowing.

Footballtennis, also known as futnet is a sport played with a football. It is a ball game that can be played indoors or outdoors in a court divided by a low net with two opposing teams who try to score a point hitting the ball with any part of their body except for the hands and making it bounce in the opponent's area in a way that makes it difficult or impossible for the other team to return it over the net.

Players use power wheelchairs in order to maneuver and kick an oversized football. The game is played in a gymnasium on a regulation basketball court. Two teams of four players use powerchairs equipped with footguards to attack, defend, and spin-kick a 13-inch (330 mm) football in an attempt to score goals.

Gol Koochik is a variation of street football that has been popular in Iran. The goal is approximately 100 x 60 cm in size and the ball is light-weight which can look like a makeshift ball. Swamp football is a form of association football that is played in bogs or swamps. Table football, also known as table soccer, and known as foosball in North America, is a table-top game that is loosely based on association football / soccer. The aim of the game is to move the ball into the opponent's goal by manipulating rods which have figures attached. Although rules often vary by country and region when the game is played casually, at the competitive level table soccer is played according to a unified code.

Teqball is a ball sport that is played on a curved table, combining elements of football and table tennis. Back and forth, the players hit a football with any part of the body except arms and hands. Teqball can be played between two players as a singles game, or between four players as a doubles game. The game is represented at an international level by the International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ). A number of world-class footballers have been attracted by the game, and after being added to the programmes for the 2021 Asian Beach Games and the African Beach Games, the sport is now aiming for Olympic inclusion.

Three-sided football is a variation of association football played with three teams instead of the usual two. Played on a hexagonal pitch, the game can be adapted to soccer, as well as other versions of football.
