
Albert Park is located in Suva, the capital of Fiji. It was named after Prince Albert, the Consort of Queen Victoria of Great Britain, to whom the country was ceded to in 1874.

Athletics Fiji is the governing body for the sport of athletics in Fiji. The current president is Filimoni Vuli Waqa, holding the position since 2019.

Churchill Park is a multi-purpose stadium in Lautoka, Fiji. It is currently used mostly for football matches and hosts the home matches of Lautoka F.C. The Stadium also hosts International Rugby matches such as the Pacific Nations Cup and the Pacific Rugby Cup as well as local rugby competitions such as the Colonial Cup and the Sanyo Cup. The stadium held 18,000 people but in 2016, they added athletic tracks and tore down the other side of the Stadium thus reducing capacity to less than 10,000.

Fiji made its British Empire Games début in 1938 in Sydney, Australia.

After first competing in 1938, Fiji returned to the British Empire Games in 1950 in Auckland, New Zealand. The colony sent only male competitors. They entered a total of six events in athletics, and three events in lawn bowls.

Fiji competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, United States. The nation returned to the Summer Games after participating in the American-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics. Fourteen competitors, eleven men and three women, took part in twenty-two events in five sports.

Fiji competed at the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. 28 athletes competed in 4 different sports. Fijian team won 2 medals including one gold and a silver medal in the Games.

Fiji, having made its Olympic debut at the 1956 Summer Games, has competed at fourteen Summer Games and three Winter Games. Its athletes have taken part in archery, athletics, boxing, football, judo, sailing, shooting, swimming, weightlifting and rugby sevens.

Fiji first competed at the Summer Paralympic Games in 1964, sending a single athlete to compete in weightlifting, then missed out on two consecutive Games before returning in 1976, with a larger delegation of eight competitors in swimming and athletics. The country was then absent for four more consecutive Games, returning to the Paralympics in 1996 with two competitors in athletics. Fiji has participated in every subsequent edition of the Summer Games.

The Fiji men's national volleyball team represents Fiji in international volleyball competitions and friendly matches. The team is currently ranked 141st in the world. Fiji participates in the Pacific Games.

The Northern Sharks is a former Fijian rugby union team that had a franchise area coverering Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Ovalau, and Island Zone. The team was added to Fiji's premier Colonial Cup competition in 2005; previously the Northern Division had belonged to the Suva franchise. The Sharks competed in the Cup from 2005 to 2008 before the competition ceased in 2008.

The Skipper Cup is the Fiji Rugby Union's national provincial rugby union championship. The competition runs from May to September and is contested between the country's top 12 provincial sides. At the end of the competition the top 4 teams qualify for the semi-finals, with the winners moving on to the final. The competition has been sponsored by the phone company Digicel since 2008. Prior to that the trophy was called the Sanyo Cup.

The Suva Highlanders is a Fijian former rugby union team that had a franchise area coverering Suva, Naitasiri and Kadavu. The team played in Fiji's premier the Colonial Cup from 2004 to 2008 before the competition ceased in 2008.

The Tailevu Knights is a Fijian former rugby union team that had a franchise area coverering Tailevu, Northland, and Rewa.The team played in Fiji's premier competition the Colonial Cup from 2004 to 2008 before the competition ceased in 2008.

The Western Crusaders is a Fijian former rugby union team that had a franchise area coverering Lautoka, Nadi, and Yasawa. The team played in the Colonial Cup from 2004 to 2008 before the competition ceased in 2008.
