They then turned to former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik, who said he wanted the fight but he also ended up turning down the bout because he was unhappy with the $1.35 million offer he received from Top Rank to challenge Bute.

Following on from Khan's successful title defence against Marcos Maidana, Champion Amir returned to Manchester to continue his title defence against EBU Super Lightweight Champion Paul McCloskey at the Manchester Evening News Arena.

Amir Khan vs Lamont Peterson, billed as Capital Showdown, was a boxing match for Khan's WBA (Super) & IBF light welterweight titles. The fight took place in the Convention Center in Washington, D.C., United States, on 10 December 2011. Khan was making the first defense of his IBF belt against his mandatory challenger.

Wladimir Klitschko vs. David Haye, billed as The Talk Ends Now, was a heavyweight unification fight between IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring champion Wladimir Klitschko, and WBA champion David Haye. The fight took place in Imtech Arena, Altona, Hamburg, Germany on July 2, 2011. Klitschko defeated Haye by unanimous decision.

Vitali Klitschko vs. Tomasz Adamek was a Heavyweight Championship fight for the WBC title. The fight took place at the Stadion Miejski in Wrocław, Lower Silesian, Poland on September 10, 2011 and was televised via HBO World Championship Boxing. Promoter Lou DiBella offered the fight with Martinez to titleholders Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Daniel Geale as well as junior middleweight titlist Miguel Cotto and Paul Williams, for a rubber match. Martinez said he was willing to face Cotto at middleweight or drop down to junior middleweight to fight him, but Cotto continued to ignore the fight.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Victor Ortiz, billed as Star Power, was a championship fight for Ortiz's WBC Welterweight title. The bout was held on September 17, 2011, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada and televised via HBO PPV. As a part of a split-site doubleheader, the broadcast also featured the Saul Alvarez vs. Alfonso Gomez Light Middleweight championship bout taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Márquez III, billed as The 25th Round Begins, was a boxing championship bout for the WBO welterweight title. The bout took place on November 12, 2011, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada and was distributed by HBO PPV. The fight also marked a return to HBO for Pacquiao and drew 1.4 million pay-per-view buys.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley, billed as The Undaunted, was a welterweight fight for the WBO Welterweight championship. The bout was held on May 7, 2011, at MGM Grand, in Las Vegas. Pacquiao defeated Mosley by unanimous decision and retained his WBO Welterweight Championship. The fight was Manny Pacquiao's first PPV fight on Showtime boxing due to HBO choosing not to air the fight.
