
The 1999 South Asian Games were held in Kathmandu, Nepal from September 25 to October 4, 1999. King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev declared the games open amidst a grand ceremony.

The 2015 Budha Subba Gold Cup was the 17th edition of the Budha Subba Gold Cup held in Dharan and sponsored by Red Bull. Seven teams from Nepal and one from India participated in the tournament. All matches were held at the ANFA Technical Center Dharan. A lot of changes were made regarding the format of the tournament, the tournament took place in February as opposed to April, when it previously took place. Also, the prize money for the winning team was increased to make the tournament more attractive. Belgharia Sporting Club from Calcutta, India, who won this tournament in 1999, was also meant to join the tournament but was replaced by another Indian Team, Sikkim Sunalchu FC.

Birat Gold Cup is an annual football tournament held in Biratnagar, the second largest metropolitan city of Nepal. It has been held at the Sahid Rangsala stadium in Biratnagar, Morang, Nepal every year since 2012 A.D. The event witnesses participation from several national and international teams, and is amongst the most sought after football tournament of the nation.

Boys Union Club is an association football club from Nepal. They play at 25,000 capacity Dasarath Rangasala Stadium.

Elephant polo is a variant of polo played while riding elephants. It is played in Nepal, Rajasthan (India), and Thailand. England and Scotland regularly field teams. Equipment consists of a standard polo ball and six to ten foot cane sticks with a polo mallet head on the end. The pitch is three-quarters of the length of a standard polo pitch, due to the lower speed of the elephants. Two people ride each elephant; the elephants are steered by mahouts, while the player tells the mahout which way to go and hits the ball.

Nepal participated in the 1998 Asian Games held in Bangkok, Thailand from December 6, 1998 to December 20, 1998. Athletes from Nepal succeeded in winning four total medals -- one silver and three bronzes. Nepal finished twenty-seventh in a medal table.

Affiliated to National Sports Council and Nepal Olympic Committee, and with the primary objective of Historical Conservation for Sports Development and contributing to the Olympic Movement by preserving historic objects and items that were once a part of Nepalese Sports, the Museum, is a national asset of every Nepalese sport enthusiast and purely a sports organization. It is evident that since its existence, the museum despite it ups and downs have been involved in variety of activities in the service of Nepalese sports.

Sankata Boys Sports Club, commonly known as Sankata Boys S.C., is a Nepalese football club based in Kathmandu that competes in the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League. Named after Sankata Temple, the club has won the national championship three times, most recently in 1985.

Bimala Tamang is a (Nepalese) Nepali female karateka who recently won bronze for the Women's Individual Kata at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. This was Nepal's first and only medal tallied at the 2014 Games.
