The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2021 were held 8–21 February in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. In May 2020, the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) and the event organizing committee asked the International Ski Federation (FIS) to postpone the event until 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the request was rejected by FIS, and the organizers then moved forward with plans for 2021.

The Men's Slalom World Cup 2020/2021 involved 11 events included the final.

The Women's Downhill World Cup 2020/2021 involved eight events, including the final.

Through 28 events, Slovakian skier Petra Vlhová held a narrow lead over Swiss skier Lara Gut-Behrami.

The Women's Parallel World Cup 2020/2021 involved only 1 event, a parallel giant slalom, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The sole event was won by Petra Vlhová, who thus won the season championship.
