This is roughly 10% of the world's total proven petroleum reserves. At 2020 rates of production, Iran's oil reserves would last 145 years if no new oil was found.

Aghajari Gas Injection Project is aimed at boosting production from this aging field.

The Al-Fakkah Field, also known as Jebel Al-Fauqi or Jebal Al-Fauqi, is an oil field located in southern Iraq's Maysan Governorate and Khūzestān Province, Iran. The oil field produced 50,000 barrels per day (7,900 m3/d) prior to the 2003 Iraq War and is part of the Maysan oilfield complex that altogether holds reserve of 2.5 billion barrels. The oil field is considered shared but an area of dispute between Iraq and Iran. Iraq unsuccessfully put the oil field up for bidding in 2009.

The Azadegan oil field is an oil field in Iran. It is located 80 kilometres (50 mi) west of Ahvaz, near the Iraqi border.

The Bibi Hakimeh oil field is an oil field located in Bibi Hakimeh, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, Iran. The field lies 210 kilometres southeast of Ahvaz. It was discovered in 1961, and it has produced oil since 1963. In 2018, it produced 120,000 barrels per day (19,000 m3/d) of oil. The field is owned by state-owned National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and operated by National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC).

Ferdows is a giant oil and gas field of Iran, located in the Persian Gulf, 190 kilometres (120 mi) south-east from the city of Bushehr and 85 kilometres (53 mi) from the coast. It was explored in 2003. Prior to 2007, it was among the three largest in the world after Al Ghawar and Burgan.

The Gachsaran oil field is an Iranian oil field located in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province and is around Gachsaran city or Dogonbadan. It was discovered in 1928 and developed by Anglo-Persian Oil Company. It began production of Crude oil in 1930. The total proven reserves of the Gachsaran field are around 52.9 billion barrels (9394×106tonnes), and production is centered on 560,000 barrels per day (89,000 m3/d). The field is owned by National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and operated by National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC).

The Karanj oil field is an Iranian oil field located 120 kilometres (75 mi) east of the Ahvaz City, in Khuzestan Province. It was discovered in 1963 and the production was started after installing production facilities in 1964. Oil production of Karanj field is about 200,000 barrels per day (32,000 m3/d). The field has a 650-metre thick oil column with an API gravity of 33.9 deg. Its oil reserves have been estimated at 11.2 bn barrels, with gas at about 3.5 TCF. A gas injection project at Karanj was completed in 1995. The field is owned by state-owned National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and operated by National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC).

The Mansouri oil field is an oil field located in southwest Iran and 45km southeast of Ahvaz city. It was discovered in 1963 and the production was started after installing production facilities in 1974. Oil production of Mansouri field is about 110,000 barrels per day (17,000 m3/d). Its oil reserves have been estimated at 3.3 bn barrels. The field is owned by state-owned National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and operated by National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC).

Marun Field is an oil field, located in the Khuzestan province of Iran and is the second-largest oil field in Iran. The field was discovered in 1963, and owned by state-owned National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and operated by National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC).

The Masjed Soleyman oil field is an oil field located in Masjed Soleyman, Khuzestan Province, Iran and in the north of Ahvaz City. It was the first oil field discovered in Middle East. The field is a mature super-giant, which produces primarily from the prolific Oligocene Asmari horizons, a formation which underpins Iranian crude oil production. The National Iranian South Oil Company operates the field, as well as a number of other fields in the surrounding regions. Oil production of MasjedSoleyman field is about 5,000 barrels per day (790 m3/d). The field is estimated to contain 6.5 billion barrels of oil. So far 367 wells were drilled in the field, of which only 16 are currently operational. The field is owned by National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).

The Pazanan oil field is an Iranian oil and natural gas field that is located in 170 km South East of Ahvaz in Khuzestan province of Iran and between Aghajari and Bibi Hakimeh fields. The field is discovered in 1936. It began production in 1974 and about 119 wells have been drilled in it. This field is one of huge retrograde gas condensate reservoir in Iran. The total proven reserves of the Pazanan oil field are around 50 trillion cubic feet (1430×109m3) and production is slated to be around 750 million cubic feet/day (22×106m3) and around 31000 bpd.

The Rag Sefid oil field is an oil field located in Khuzestan Province, approximately 6 km in nearest distance from the Persian Gulf, southwest Iran. It was discovered in 1964 and developed by National Iranian Oil Company and began production in 1966. The total proven reserves of the Rag Sefid oil field are around 14,5 billion barrels, and production is centered on 180,000 barrels per day (29,000 m3/d). The field is owned by state-owned National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and operated by National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC).

The Shadegan oil field is an Iranian oil field located in Khuzestan Province, in the south west of Ahvaz City. It was discovered in 1968 and the production was started in 1988. The field has 23 km in length 6 km in width and includes two reservoirs. Shadegan field is currently with 20 active oil wells and crude oil production is about 69,000 barrels per day (11,000 m3/d). The field is owned by National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and operated by National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC).
