
In art history, "Old Master" refers to any painter of skill who worked in Europe before about 1800, or a painting by such an artist. An "old master print" is an original print made by an artist in the same period. The term "old master drawing" is used in the same way.

Robert Wilhelm Ekman, a.k.a. R. W. Ekman, was a significant teacher and painter of the Finnish romantic portraits and early national romanticism.

Johann Gottlieb Hantzsch was a German genre painter.

Alexander Heubel or Aleksandrs Heibels was a Latvian romantic painter. His works were characterized by depictions of biblical figures and were typically highly influenced by German Romanticism.

Katarina Ivanović (1811–1882), was a Serbian painter from the Austrian Empire. She is regarded the first Serbian female painter in the modern art history.

Uroš Knežević was a Serbian painter. Knežević is best-known as portraitist, having produced more than 200 portraits, mostly of notable people of his time.

Vincenzo Petrocelli was a Neapolitan artist. Petrocelli was born in Cervaro in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. He studied under Domenico Morelli, and was active as a painter from about 1850. He was principally a history painter, but also painted portraits and genre scenes. His sons Achille and Arturo were both painters. Petrocelli died in Naples. Vincenzo Gemito made a terracotta bust of him in 1869.

Novak Radonić was a painter from modern-day Serbia.

Raden Saleh Sjarif Boestaman was a pioneering Indonesian Romantic painter of Arab-Javanese ethnicity. He was considered to be the first "modern" artist from Indonesia, and his paintings corresponded with nineteenth-century romanticism which was popular in Europe at the time. He also expressed his cultural roots and inventiveness in his work.

Stevan "Steva" Todorović was a Serbian painter and the founder of modern fencing and Sokol movement in Yugoslavia.
