Construction started on the convention centre in early 2006 and completed in June 2008, with the centre opening in July of that year. Krishnapatnam Port popularly known as KPCL is a privately built and owned all weather, deep water port on the east coast of India, located in the Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh. It is located about 190 km north of the Chennai Port and 18 km east of the city of Nellore. The port was owned and operated by the Krishnapatnam Port Company Limited (KPCL) which was 92% owned by Hyderabad-based CVR Group. The London-based equity firm 3i Group Plc owned the remaining 8% equity in KPCL.

As of December 2019, monthly the incinerator received about 14,260 tons of waste and 14,316 tons of them was incinerated. The plant produced 8.193 GWh of electricity and 83.79% of it was sold to Taipower. It produced 2,454 tones of ashes.

The collection was established in May 1998, and until 2008 was housed in Old Parliament House and in a nearby gallery on Commonwealth Place. On 4 December 2008, its purpose-built permanent home was opened on King Edward Terrace, Canberra – beside the High Court of Australia – by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
