Abiy Ahmed Ali is an Ethiopian politician serving as 4th Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia since 2 April 2018. He was the third chairman of the ruling Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) and first Oromo to serve in that position from the Oromo Democratic Party (ODP), which was one of the four coalition parties of the EPRDF. Abiy is also an elected member of the Ethiopian parliament, and a member of the ODP and EPRDF executive committees.
Isaias Afwerki is an Eritrean Dictator who has been President of Eritrea since the Eritrean War of Independence in 1993. He led the Eritrean People's Liberation Front (EPLF) to victory in May 1991, ending the 30-year-old war for independence from Ethiopia.

Tadesse Birru was an Ethiopian general of the Ethiopian Imperial Army and an Human right activist. Initially a strong proponent of Ethiopian unity, Tadesse eventually became an activist for the empowerment of the Oromo people in the 1960s. His advocacy turned into repeated attempts to overthrow the government through a coup and later through a military rebellion. He was eventually captured and executed by the Derg regime. He is considered to be the father of modern Oromo nationalism

Debretsion Gebremichael, is an Ethiopian politician and current President of the Tigray Region and chairman of Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF). His position as titular head of the Tigray region is disputed by the federal government of Ethiopia who in November 2020 appointed Mulu Nega as the chief executive of the Transitional Government of Tigray.

Mengistu Haile Mariam is an Ethiopian soldier and politician who was the head of state of Ethiopia from 1977 to 1991 and General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Ethiopia from 1984 to 1991. He was the chairman of the Derg, the socialist military junta that governed Ethiopia, from 1977 to 1987, and the President of the People's Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (PDRE) from 1987 to 1991.

Brigadier General Tafari Benti was an Ethiopian politician who served as Head of State of Ethiopia in his role as chairman of the Derg, the ruling military junta. His official title was Chairman of the Provisional Military Administrative Council.
