WSamsung Galaxy Store is an app store used for devices manufactured by Samsung Electronics that was launched in September 2009.
WBada is a discontinued operating system for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. It was developed by Samsung Electronics. Its name is derived from "바다 (bada)", meaning "ocean" or "sea" in Korean. It ranges from mid- to high-end smartphones.
WBixby is a virtual assistant developed by Samsung Electronics. It represents a major reboot for S Voice, Samsung's voice assistant app introduced in 2012 with the Galaxy S III. S Voice was later discontinued on 1 June 2020. In May 2017, Samsung announced that Bixby would be coming to its line of Family Hub 2.0 refrigerators, making it the first non-mobile product to include the virtual assistant.
WChatON was a global mobile communication service introduced by Samsung Electronics in September 2011. ChatON served more than 120 countries in 62 languages. ChatON was available on Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, Windows Mobile (Korea), and Bada smartphones. Additionally, a web client was offered for access to the service via web browsers. Users could invite and register buddies via Facebook and Twitter as well as share ChatON content on Facebook. Among ChatON's unique features were allowing users to create Animation messages, Broadcast to send personal notices in a group chat room, and the Trunk which stores media files shared in chats. When a user logs in ChatON, the user's buddy list is available on any connected device.
WOdin is a utility software developed and used by Samsung internally. It can be used to flash a custom recovery firmware image to a Samsung Android device. Odin is also used for unbricking certain Android devices.
WOne UI is a software overlay developed by Samsung Electronics for its Android devices running Android 9 and higher. Succeeding Samsung Experience and TouchWiz, it is designed to make using larger smartphones easier and become more visually appealing. To provide more clarity, some elements of the UI are tweaked to match the colors that are based on the color of the user's phone. It was unveiled at Samsung's developer conference in 2019 alongside the Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Buds and the Galaxy Fold.
WS Voice is an intelligent personal assistant and knowledge navigator which is only available as a built-in application for the Samsung Galaxy S III, S III Mini, S4, S4 Mini, S4 Active, S5, S5 Mini, S II Plus, Note II, Note 3, Note 4, Note 10.1, Note 8.0, Stellar, Mega, Grand, Avant, Core, Ace 3, Tab 3 7.0, Tab 3 8.0, Tab 3 10.1, Galaxy Camera, and other 2013 or later Samsung Android devices. The application uses a natural language user interface to answer questions, make recommendations, and perform actions by delegating requests to a set of Web services. S Voice is based on the Vlingo personal assistant. For Galaxy S5 and later Samsung Galaxy devices, S Voice runs on Nuance instead of Vlingo.
WSamsung Experience was a software overlay for the Android "launcher" by Samsung for its Galaxy devices running Android Nougat and Android Oreo. It was introduced in late 2016 on a beta build based on Android Nougat for the Galaxy S7, succeeding TouchWiz. It has been succeeded by One UI based on Android Pie and later versions.
WSamsung Internet Browser is a mobile web browser for smartphones and tablets developed by Samsung Electronics. It is based on the open-source Chromium project. It is pre-installed on Samsung Galaxy devices. Since 2015, it has been available for download from Google Play, and recently it is also available for their Tizen-based smartwatch via the Samsung Galaxy Store. Samsung estimated that it had around 400 million monthly active users in 2016. According to StatCounter, it had a market share of around 4.98% around May 2018.
WSamsung Kies is a freeware software application used to communicate between Windows or Macintosh operating systems, and more recently manufactured Samsung mobile phone and tablet computer devices, usually using a USB connection. Samsung has released new software to replace Kies, named Samsung Smart Switch, which is mainly directed at migrating customers onto new Samsung devices. The name K.I.E.S. originated as an acronym for "Key Intuitive Easy System". After version 2.0, the name was shortened to "Kies".
WSamsung Pay is a mobile payment and digital wallet service by Samsung Electronics that lets users make payments using compatible phones and other Samsung-produced devices. The service supports contactless payments using near-field communications (NFC), but also supports magnetic stripe–only payment terminals by incorporating magnetic secure transmission. In India it also supports bill payments.
WSmartOS is a free and open-source SVR4 hypervisor based on the UNIX operating system that combines OpenSolaris technology with Linux's KVM virtualization. Its core kernel contributed to the illumos project. It features several technologies: Crossbow, DTrace, KVM, ZFS, and Zones. Unlike other illumos distributions, SmartOS employs NetBSD pkgsrc package management. SmartOS is designed to be particularly suitable for building clouds and generating appliances. It is developed for and by Joyent, but is open-source and free for anyone to use.
WTizen is a Linux-based mobile operating system backed by the Linux Foundation but developed and used primarily by Samsung Electronics.
WTouchWiz is a discontinued user interface developed by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd with partners, featuring a full touch user interface. Some people incorrectly identify TouchWiz as an operating system, and it is only available for Samsung devices. TouchWiz is used internally by Samsung for smartphones, feature phones and tablet computers, and is not available for licensing by external parties. The Android version of TouchWiz also comes with the Samsung-made app store Galaxy Apps. It was replaced by Samsung Experience in 2017 with the release of Android Nougat 7.1.1.
WViv is an intelligent personal assistant software created by the developers of Siri. It debuted on May 9, 2016, at TechCrunch Disrupt New York. Compared to Siri, the software's platform is open and can accommodate external plug-ins written to work with the assistant. It can also handle more complex queries. The development team has been working on the software since 2012 and had raised over $22 million in funding by early 2015 and $30 million by early 2016.
