Shefqet bej Dajiu was one of the signatories of the Albanian Declaration of Independence in 1912. He was the second secretary of the Congress of Vlora, when independence was declared. He was later named as prefect of Fieri, a post he held until the First World War. During the next years he did not take part in politics, and was shown again during World War II, this time as a collaborator of the Axis. He was killed in 1946, by the communist regime, for his collaborative activity.

Ndue Përlleshi was a Kosovar-Albanian military leader, local and national hero, known as "Trimi I Dukagjinit". He was the Commander of the "Dukagjini Band" during World War II. On 8 March 1948, during the Battle of Bokshiq, Ndue Perlleshi, along Shaban Dema and Ndrec Nikolla, fought Montenegrin and Albanian communist forces numbering 600. Perlleshi killed 27 communists, and wounded many others, and both his comrades died. He survived with four wounds and returned to his home until Janko Boric, the local community leader, spotted him and threw a grenade through his window. Perlleshi quickly grabbed it and tossed it back to Boric wounding him. Ndue Perlleshi was killed on 29 August 1949 in Albania by the communist forces of Mehmet Shehu. Ndue Perlleshi is a much honoured hero amongst the Albanians of Dukagjin and Peja-region. He is mentioned in Albanian epic folklore.

Prenk Pervizi was an Albanian military figure, General of the Albanian army, who also served as Minister of Defence for a short period during World War II. Pervizi attended the Military Academy in Vienna, Austria, from 1914 to 1918, and later in Torino, 1930–1933. As a military figure, he was a protagonist in the foreground of Albanian history in the years between 1918 and 1944. Friend and right-hand man of King Zog, he remained loyal from the beginning to the end to him and the Albanian Kingdom, 1928–1939. During World War II he was involved in military operations. Recruited by the Italians and sent to the first line of combat, he came into conflict with them, withdrawing the Albanian troops from the Greco-Italian War. He also opposed the German SS troops recruitment process in Albania. Bitter opponent of the communists, after failed attempts to engage some serious support from the British emissaries, he was forced to exile, first in Greece and later in Belgium as a political refugee. He spent the rest of his life in Belgium, where he died at age 80, on 6 September 1977.
