22 People's Artists of Albania

The People's Artist was an honorary title for outstanding art performers of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania, whose merits were exceptional in the sphere of development of the performing arts. It was created by law in 1960 and amended in 1980. The title is no longer given in Albania after the law was amended in 1996. The equivalent of it became the "Grand Master of Work" title, that was also substituted with the "Grand Master" title after a 2001 amendment of the 1996 law.

Melpomeni Çobani was an Albanian actress and an honored People's Artist of Albania. She has starred in films such as Tana (1958), Estrada në ekran (1968) and Kapedani (1972).

Sadik Kaceli was an Albanian artist. He studied in Paris at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts (1936–1941). Kaceli is one of Albania's best known painters, receiving many decorations as People's Artist of Albania and the Honour Citizen of Tirana medal. He created the first series of the Albanian lek. In 2016 Sadik Kaceli was given the Honour of Nation Order. He is one of the founders of the National Art Gallery of Albania, designed the first version of the Albanian lek, and made the People's Republic of Albania Coat of Arms.

Marie Kraja or Marie Paluca was an Albanian opera singer who is particularly known for her delivery of Albanian folk songs.

Tinka Kurti is an Albanian actress. Her body of work, spanning 60 years, includes more than 50 feature movies and 150 theatre plays. She has been awarded the People's Artist of Albania medal.

Marie Logoreci was an Albanian film and stage actress. She started her career as a singer in Radio Tirana (1945), before making her breakthrough appearance as an actress in the film The Great Warrior Skanderbeg (1953). With all the successful performances made in film, she remained a great actress of the Albanian cinema and icon of the Albanian National Theater. For her contributions she has received honorary titles People's Artist of Albania (1975) and Honor of Nation Order (2015).

Violeta Manushi was an Albanian actress. She was honored with the People's Artist of Albania. She is best known in Albania for her portrayal of Teto Ollga, a symbolic character which followed her for much of her career.

Janaq Paço was one of the best known Albanian sculptors of the 20th century. Some of his prominent works include the monuments of Skanderbeg in Kruja, Tirana, and Pristina, Kosovo, as well as The Gladiators.

Sulejman Pitarka (1924–2007) was an Albanian actor, writer, and playwright originally from Debar. His family moved to Durrës, Albania, when he was five. His brother was Bashkim Pitarka, who became an Albanian diplomat.

Aleksander "Sandër" Prosi was an Albanian film and theater actor and violin player. He was given the People's Artist of Albania award by the Albanian government. He is considered one of the greatest Albanian actors of all times.

Kadri Roshi was an Albanian actor. He was named a People's Artist of Albania.

Skënder Sallaku was an Albanian comedian and actor, recipient of the People's Artist of Albania award. He was also a notable national champion of Albania in Greco-Roman wrestling. His filmography includes Estrada në ekran (1968), Cirku në fshat (1977), Gjuetia e fundit (1992) and Revolja e humbur (1995). Sallaku died in Tirana with family at his side in the morning of 11 February 2014.

Tefta Tashko-Koço was an Albanian singer and soprano. She was a leading figure in the regional music industry and considered one of the most influential personalities of the 20th century in the Albanian-speaking world.

Margarita Xhepa is an Albanian actress.

Çesk Zadeja was an Albanian composer. A native of Shkodër, he studied in Moscow and did much to promote the arts in Tirana. He is known as "The Father of Albanian Music".
