WGrażyna Bernatowicz is a Polish diplomat and political scientist. She was the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland from 2000 to 2002, and again from 2007 to 2013. She has been the Polish ambassador to Spain and Andorra (2002–2007), and to the Czech Republic (2013–2017).
WMarek Stefan Borowski is a Polish left-wing politician. He led the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) for a time and was Speaker of the Sejm from 2001 to 2004.
WBogdan Michał Borusewicz was the Marshal in the Polish Senate from 20 October 2005 to 11 November 2015. Borusewicz was a democratic opposition activist under the Communist regime, a member of the Polish parliament (Sejm) for three terms and first Senate Marshal to serve two terms in this office. WOliver Friggieri was a Maltese poet, novelist, literary critic, and philosopher. He led the establishment of literary history and criticism in Maltese while teaching at the University of Malta, studying the works of Dun Karm, Rużar Briffa, and others. A prolific writer himself, Friggieri explored new genres to advocate the Maltese language, writing the libretti for the first oratorio and the first cantata in Maltese. His work aimed to promote the Maltese cultural identity, while not shying from criticism: one of his most famous novels, Fil-Parlament Ma Jikbrux Fjuri, attacked the tribalistic divisions of society caused by politics. From philosophy, he was mostly interested in epistemology and existentialism.

After unsuccessfully standing for election to the Académie Française in 2011 and 2016, he was elected to seat 8 in 2019.

He was the ruling Emir of Qatar from 1995 until 2013 when he abdicated the throne, handing power to his son Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. The Qatari government refers to him as the Father Emir.
