Fleet Admiral Gial Ackbar is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. A member of the amphibious Mon Calamari species, Ackbar was the foremost military commander of the Rebel Alliance, and led the attack against the second Death Star in Return of the Jedi (1983), the final entry in the original Star Wars trilogy. Ackbar plays an important role in the film, as without his tactical genius, the Rebel Alliance would have been obliterated. Although his time in the film was brief, Ackbar became a prominent character in other Star Wars media, including novels, comic books, video games, and television shows, and later made appearances in the sequel trilogy films Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) and Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), and the television series The Clone Wars.

First indirectly mentioned in Return of the Jedi, she is introduced in The Phantom Menace as the teenage Queen of Naboo, and after her reign, becomes a senator and an anti-war spokesperson in the Galactic Senate. She secretly marries Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker then later gives birth to twins Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. Anakin's fear of losing Padmé plays a part in driving him to the dark side of the Force and becoming Darth Vader.

Created by writer Kieron Gillen and artist Salvador Larroca, she first appeared in Marvel Comics' 2015 Star Wars: Darth Vader comic book series. Aphra became a breakout character, and began appearing in her own comic series, Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, in December 2016. She is a morally questionable, criminal archaeologist initially employed by Darth Vader, who later goes into hiding from him. Aphra is the first original Star Wars character not from the films to lead a Marvel comic series.

While seemingly killed in Return of the Jedi after falling into a sarlacc, he has since appeared in Star Wars media set after the film, confirming his survival. Fett was retroactively added to the Special Edition of A New Hope released in 1997, making a non-speaking cameo appearance. A preteen Boba is portrayed by Daniel Logan in the prequel film Attack of the Clones (2002), which reveals the character's origins as a clone and the adoptive son of the bounty hunter Jango Fett.

He was originally introduced as a minor character in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, where he was voiced by Andrew Kishino. Greedo Tetsu Jr. is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He was a Rodian bounty hunter from the Tetsu Clan and worked for gangster Jabba the Hutt. He appears in the first Star Wars film during a scene where he confronts and threatens Han Solo, only to be killed by Solo. The scene was later altered so that Greedo also shoots at Han, leading to the infamous fan controversy known as "Han shot first" with which the character has since come to be best-known.

Vice-Admiral Amilyn Holdo is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. She is introduced in the 2017 Claudia Gray novel Star Wars: Leia, Princess of Alderaan as the childhood best friend of Princess Leia Organa. Holdo and Leia first meet as teenagers when they are both enrolled in Coruscant's Apprentice Legislature, with Holdo subsequently becoming an important member of the Rebel Alliance. Holdo reappears in the 2017 film Star Wars: The Last Jedi, in which she is portrayed by Laura Dern as a member of Organa's Resistance, as well as a number of Star Wars comics. Claudia Gray's version of the character has received high acclaim from critics and fans alike, with many comparing her to the character of Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series. Rian Johnson's version in The Last Jedi has received generally negative reception, but Laura Dern's performance as an older Holdo has received praise; however, some have criticized her characterization for being too different from her younger book counterpart.

Obi-Wan "Ben" Kenobi is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. Within the original trilogy, Obi-Wan is a Jedi Master as a supporting character and is portrayed by English actor Alec Guinness. In the later-released prequel trilogy, a younger version of the character serves as one of the two main protagonists, alongside Anakin Skywalker, and is portrayed by Scottish actor Ewan McGregor. In the original trilogy, he is a mentor to Luke Skywalker, to whom he introduces the ways of the Jedi. After sacrificing himself in a duel against Darth Vader, Obi-Wan guides Luke through the Force in his fight against the Galactic Empire. Darth Maul, later known simply as Maul, is a fictional character and a major antagonist in the Star Wars franchise. He was originally introduced in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace as a powerful Zabrak warrior and Darth Sidious' first apprentice. Though seemingly killed by Obi-Wan Kenobi at the end of the film, the 2008 Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated television series revealed that Maul had survived his injuries, and he has since also been featured in the 2014 series Star Wars Rebels and the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story, voiced by Sam Witwer, with Park physically reprising the role in the latter film. The title of their initial appearance—Tag & Bink Are Dead—is a reference to the Tom Stoppard play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, itself titled after a line from Hamlet.
