A member of the Polish Writers' Union and the Polish Journalists Association, he has received the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. Some of them are on the required reading list for theology and religious studies students at Polish universities, including the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, The University of Łódź, Catholic University of Lublin, and Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw.

Aldona Zofia Wos is a Polish-American physician and politician who has served in various positions at several U.S. government agencies and nonprofit organizations. She was the United States Ambassador to Estonia from 2004 until early December 2006, the fifth U.S. ambassador since the country regained its independence in 1991. From 2013 until 2015, she was Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Since May 2017, Wos has served as vice-chairwoman of the President's Commission on White House Fellowships, which is tasked with reviewing candidates for White House fellowships.

George David "Zambo" Zamka is an American NASA astronaut and United States Marine Corps pilot with over 3500 flight hours in more than 30 different aircraft. Zamka piloted the Space Shuttle Discovery in its October 2007 mission to the International Space Station and served as the commander of mission STS-130 in February 2010.

A Lithuanian Jew, he has been director of the Vilna Gaon Jewish State Museum, honorary chairman of Lithuania's Jewish community, and is Chairman of the International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania. He is a founding signatory of the Prague Declaration on European Conscience and Communism, that proposed the establishment of the European Day of Remembrance for Victims of Stalinism and Nazism.
