Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh is a Vietnamese politician who served as the Vice President of Vietnam, in office from 2016 to 2021. In this capacity she was the Acting President of Vietnam from the death of President Trần Đại Quang on 21 September 2018 until the election and swearing-in of his successor Nguyễn Phú Trọng on 23 October 2018. Thịnh was the first woman in Vietnamese history to become President or Acting President of Vietnam. She was the first female head of state in a communist country since Soong Ching-ling of China.

Madame Nguyễn Thị Định was the first female general of Vietnam People's Army during the Vietnam War. Her role in the war was as National Liberation Front deputy commander, and was described as "the most important Southern woman revolutionary in the war". Furthermore, she was commander of an all-female force known as the Long-Haired Army, which engaged in espionage and combat against ARVN and US Forces.

Dương Thu Hương is a Vietnamese author and political dissident. Formerly a member of Vietnam's Communist party, she was expelled from the party in 1989, and has been denied the right to travel abroad, and was temporarily imprisoned for her writings and outspoken criticism of corruption in the Vietnamese government.

Hoàng Văn Thái, born Hoàng Văn Xiêm, was a Vietnamese Army General and a communist political figure. His hometown was Tây An, Tiền Hải District, Thái Bình Province. During the Tết Offensive, he was the highest senior North Vietnamese officer in South Vietnam. He was the first chief of staff of the Vietnam People's Army, and was responsible for key military forces in North Vietnam. He was also Chief of Staff in the Battle of Điện Biên Phủ.

Hoàng Trung Hải is a Vietnamese Politician and the Communist Secretary of the Party Committee in Ha Noi City, a post he began to take from 5 February 2016. He is a member of the 12th Politburo Committee. He was the Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam from 27 August 2007 to 5 February 2016. Before taking this post, he had been the Minister of Industry of Vietnam. Hoàng Trung Hải graduated from Hanoi University of Technology with a degree in power systems. He also gained an MBA from Dublin University, Ireland.On February 7, 2020, he was transferred to the Post Of a Deputy Director of the Document Drafting Subcommittee of the 13th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Lê Quốc Minh is a Vietnamese reporter, journalist, and politician. He is currently a member of 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Editor-in-Chief of Nhân Dân. He was former Deputy General Director of Vietnam News Agency and former Editor-in-Chief of VietnamPlus. Lê Quốc Minh is a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam, a journalist with a Bachelor's degree in Foreign Languages and Journalism.

Lê Lương Minh is a Vietnamese politician, diplomat and the former Secretary General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Lê Lương Minh is a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

General Lê Trọng Tấn was an officer of the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) during 1945 to 1986. During this period of his military career, Lê Trọng Tấn held several senior positions of the Army. Lê Trọng Tấn participated in the Viet Minh movement before the August Revolution in 1945 and gradually became one of the most important figures of the Vietnam People's Army during the Second Indochina War. Being one of the key figures of the North Vietnam armed forces in Vietnam War, Lê Trọng Tấn was Deputy Commander of the Viet Cong (VC) and second commander of the 1975 Spring Offensive that effectively ended the war. Afterwards, he became Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of Defence of Vietnam until his death in December 1986. Lê Trọng Tấn was widely appreciated by his comrades, whom of which include general Võ Nguyên Giáp, as one of the finest commanders of the Vietnam People's Army.

Nguyễn Hữu Thọ was a Vietnamese revolutionary and Chairman of Consultative Council of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam from 6 June 1969 to 2 July 1976, and the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam from 4 July 1981 to 18 June 1987.
Colonel General Nguyễn Huy Hiệu is an officer of the Vietnam People's Army and current Deputy Minister of Defence of Vietnam. Enlisted in 1965, Nguyễn Huy Hiệu fought in various battlefields during Vietnam War, especially the Battle of Quảng Trị where he was appointed commander of battalion at the age of 23. Nguyễn Huy Hiệu began to hold the position of Deputy Minister of Defence in 1994.

His previous post was the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front. He was a Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam between 2007 and 2013, and was Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam between 2006 and 2010. He is a member of the 11th Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He had been the 1st vice mayor of Ho Chi Minh City before being appointed Minister of Education on June 28, 2006, by Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng. He was appointed by the National Assembly, upon recommendation of Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam. He received a PhD in cybernetics at the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg in East Germany in 1979.

Nguyễn Văn Bình was governor of the State Bank of Vietnam from 2011 to 2016. He is member of the CPV Central Committee, tenure 11. He was appointed as Governor of the State Bank of Việt Nam at the first session of the 13th National Assembly. He was replaced as Governor of the State Bank, with Lê Minh Hưng taking his place on 9 April 2016.

Tôn Đức Thắng was the second and last president of North Vietnam and the first president of the reunified Vietnam under the leadership of General Secretary Lê Duẩn. The position of president is ceremonial and Thắng was never a major policymaker or even a member of the Politburo, Vietnam's ruling council. He served as president, initially of North Vietnam from September 2, 1969, and later of a united Vietnam, until his death in 1980.

He was a commander in the Vietcong; a member of the Central Committee of the Lao Dong Party from 1960 to 1982; a lieutenant general in the army of the North Vietnam; chairman of Military Affairs Committee of the Central Office of South Vietnam (COSVN) (1964–1976).

Lieutenant General Trần Hanh is a pilot of the Vietnam People's Air Force and later Deputy Minister of Defence of Vietnam. During the Vietnam War, Trần Hanh was a MIG-17 pilot and officer of the 921st Regiment, he shot down a F-105D in April 1965. After the war he became the Deputy Chief of the General Staff and later Deputy Minister of Defence of Vietnam before retired in 2000.

He has worked in many units and agencies of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Socialist Republic of Vietnam, serving as Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam; Head of Central Office of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Party Personnel Committee, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam.

Trương Hòa Bình is a Vietnamese politician and the current First Deputy Prime Minister of The Socialist Republic of Vietnam. He is considered to be one of the more promising members' of the Vietnamese Government, having previously served as Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam from 2007 to 2016.

Vương Đình Huệ is a Vietnamese politician and Professor in Economics. He is currently the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee. He was previously Minister of Finance and head of the PCC Economic Commission, a central committee consulting agency for economic policies and strategies. He is also a member of the 10th, 11th and 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. In addition, he served as Deputy Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

Xuân Thủy was a North Vietnamese political figure. He was the Foreign Minister of North Vietnam from 1963 to 1965 and then chief negotiator of the North Vietnamese at the Paris Peace talks.
