The Fengcheng power station collapse occurred on 24 November 2016. At least 74 people died and at least two others were injured and trapped after a construction platform at a power plant in the Chinese city of Fengcheng in Jiangxi province collapsed. During the time, more than 60 people were working on the platform and another dozen were on the ground waiting to begin their shift at 7a.m. when the platform of a power plant’s cooling tower under construction collapsed.

The 2009 Korba chimney collapse occurred in the town of Korba in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh on 23 September 2009. It was under construction under contract for the Bharat Aluminium Co Ltd (BALCO). Construction had reached 240 m (790 ft) when the chimney collapsed on top of more than 100 workers who had been taking shelter from a thunderstorm. At least 45 deaths were recorded.

In B.C. alone an estimated $4 billion in damage has occurred to over 900 buildings and 31,000 individual housing units built between the late 1980s and early 2000s, establishing it as the most extensive and most costly reconstruction of housing stock in Canadian history.

A crawler crane collapsed over the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, around 5:10 p.m. on 11 September 2015, killing 111 people and injuring 394 others. The city was preparing for the Hajj pilgrimage. The accident has been cited as the deadliest crane collapse in modern history, with the previous most deadly incident being the collapse of a construction crane in New York City in 2008, killing seven people.

The Obed Mountain coal mine spill was a mining disaster that occurred on October 31, 2013, when a waste pit at the Obed Mountain Mine failed near the town of Hinton in Alberta, Canada. Following the collapse of a tailings dam, up to one billion liters (260 million US gal) of wastewater flooded into the nearby Athabasca River in what may be the largest coal slurry spill in Canadian history. The river's waters experienced immediate spikes in arsenic, metals, and carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Although the Athabasca was deemed safe for drinking and wildlife by the end of the year, the extent of the environment's recovery remains in doubt.

Opal Tower is a residential tower located in the suburb of Sydney Olympic Park in the Australian state of New South Wales. It was completed in August 2018. The high-rise residential tower was built by Icon, developed by Ecove and designed by Bates Smart Architects. The building has 392 apartments, with 34 above ground levels and three levels underground. On 24 December 2018 residents had reported loud banging noises, exposed panelling and cracks which mainly affected levels four and 10. All residents were evacuated from the building and relocated to Airbnb and hotel accommodation over the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
