
Nový Jičín District is a district (okres) within Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. Its capital is the town of Nový Jičín.

Leoš Janáček Airport Ostrava, formerly Ostrava-Mošnov International Airport, is the airport of the city of Ostrava in the Czech Republic, a major economic and industrial centre. It is located 20 km (12 mi) to the southwest of the city and also acts as a point of entry to northern Moravia and Czech Silesia. Originally called Mošnov, in 2006 the airport was renamed after the Czech composer Leoš Janáček.

Fotbal Fulnek is an association football team from Fulnek in the Czech Republic, as of the 2016–17 season playing in the seventh level of the Czech football league. In the 2009–2010 season, the club played in the Moravian–Silesian Football League but did not fulfil their fixtures and their results for the season were expunged in February 2010.

The Roman Catholic Parish Church of the Holy Trinity in Fulnek, Czech Republic, is one of the most important landmarks of the town. Built in the 18th century, Holy Trinity Church is architecturally and culturally significant as one of the most valuable baroque buildings of northeast Moravia. It is situated on the site of the original parish church, whose existence was documented in the 13th century.

Jakubčovice Fotbal is a Czech football club. In 2006–2007, it played in the Czech 2. Liga. After finishing 11th in the table, it was swapped by FK Dukla Prague, and Jakubčovice Fotbal began the next season in a lower division.
Radhošť is a mountain in the Czech Republic 1129 meters above sea level with a view of the Beskydy mountains. A chapel and a sculpture of Saints Cyril and Methodius are located on the summit to glorify their evangelization of Slavic people. The mountain is a popular destination for religious pilgrimages. Referred to as the place of Slavic god Radegast, Radhošť was the host of sacred ceremonies to rejoice the god during the time of Slavic antiquity. The name Radhošť is in fact a Czech version of the name of Radegast.
Šipka is a cave located near Štramberk, Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic, 440 m above sea level. In 1880, a mandible of a Neanderthal child was found there. The age of the child has been estimated to be between 9 and 10 years.

On 8 August 2008, at approximately 10:30 local time, EuroCity train EC 108 Comenius, en route from Kraków, Poland, to Prague, Czech Republic, struck a part of a motorway bridge that had fallen onto the railroad track near the Studénka railway station in the Czech Republic. The train derailed, killing eight people and injuring 64.
