Fan Ming, born Hao Keyong (郝克勇), was a general of the Chinese People's Liberation Army during the Battle of Chamdo, where Tibet was incorporated into the People's Republic of China. He was later a deputy secretary of the Tibet Work Committee set up in Lhasa. While in Tibet, Fan became a close associate of the 10th Panchen Lama. A well-educated man, he assumed control of Tibet's social and economic policies while Zhang Guohua, a political rival, assumed command of the PLA armed forces. Fan Ming died in Xi'an on February 23, 2010.

Fang Fenghui is a former top general in the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). He served as the Chief of Joint Staff and a member of the Central Military Commission. He was placed under investigation for corruption in 2017 and subsequently convicted.

Guo Boxiong is a former general of the People's Liberation Army of China. He served as the Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, China's top military council, between 2002 and 2012. During the same period he also held a seat in the Politburo of the Communist Party of China, China's top decision-making body. He was expelled from the Communist Party on 30 July 2015. On July 25, 2016, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for bribery.
