
Gillian Margaret Bibby is a New Zealand composer, pianist, writer and teacher. She was born in Lower Hutt, New Zealand, and studied at the University of Otago and Victoria University with Douglas Lilburn. She continued her studies in Berlin and Cologne with Aloys Kontarsky, Mauricio Kagel and Karlheinz Stockhausen. After completing her studies, she worked as a pianist, composer, music teacher and university lecturer in New Zealand.

John Stanley Body was a New Zealand composer, ethnomusicologist, photographer, teacher, and arts producer. As a composer, his work comprises concert music, music theatre, electronic music, music for film and dance, and audio-visual gallery installations. A deep and long-standing interest in the music of non-Western cultures – particularly South-East Asian – influenced much of his composing work, particularly his technique of transcribing field recordings. As an organiser of musical events and projects, Body had a significant impact on the promotion of Asian music in New Zealand, as well as the promotion of New Zealand music within the country and abroad. In 2015 he was named a New Zealand Arts Icon, the highest award given by the New Zealand Arts Foundation and the first composer to be so honoured.

Helen Bowater is a New Zealand composer. She was born in Wellington into a musical family, and studied piano and violin with Gwyneth Brown. In 1982 she graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in music history and ethnomusicology from Victoria University of Wellington. She continued her studies in electroacoustic music with Ross Harris and in composition with Jack Body.

Edwin James Nairn Carr was a composer of classical music from New Zealand.

Gareth Vincent Farr is a New Zealand composer and percussionist. He has released a number of classical CDs and composed a number of works performed by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (NZSO) and Royal New Zealand Ballet. He has also performed in drag under the name Lilith LaCroix in a show called Drumdrag and has also released a CD under that name.

Dorothy Whitson Freed was a New Zealand author, composer, and music historian. She made significant contributions to the field of music librarians, and authored several books and articles regarding musical information and resources in New Zealand.

Alfred Francis Hill CMG OBE was an Australian-New Zealand composer, conductor and teacher.

Douglas Gordon Lilburn was a New Zealand composer.

Anthony Ritchie is a New Zealand composer and academic. He is currently professor and head of performance at Otago University. His works number over a hundred, and include three symphonies, two operas, seven concertos, choral works, chamber music and solo works.
