The Black Crowes are an American Southern rock band from Marietta, Georgia. Originally formed by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson in 1984 as Mr Crowe's Garden, the group went through a series of early personnel changes before settling on a lineup including rhythm guitarist Jeff Cease, bassist Johnny Colt and drummer Steve Gorman in 1989. The current lineup of the band, which reformed in November 2019 after breaking up for a third time in 2015, includes the Robinson brothers and new members Isaiah Mitchell, Tim Lefebvre (bass), Raj Ojha (drums) and Joel Robinow (keyboards).

He then formed the band Cry of Love, which was signed to Columbia Records and released the debut album Brother. The album spawned 2 number 1 and two Top 10 AOR hits, including “Peace Pipe”, named by Billboard as one of the “top 50 AOR songs of all time”. Following a second Columbia release, Diamonds and Debris, and another Freed-penned AOR hit, the band called it quits.

Andy Hess is an American bassist and former member of Gov't Mule, having joined the band in 2003. Previously, he was The Black Crowes' bassist from February 2001 until their hiatus early the following year. He has also played in Joan Osborne's band and has done session work for artists including David Byrne and Tina Turner. Hess is currently touring with Steve Kimock. He performed on The John Scofield's Band albums Up All Night which was released in 2003 and Überjam Deux which was released in 2013.

Adam MacDougall was born in August 1974 in New York City, New York. MacDougall is the keyboardist who replaced Rob Clores in The Black Crowes in time to record Warpaint in July 2007. Previously, he was a member of The Ben Taylor Band and Furslide, and he has also toured with Macy Gray and Patti Rothberg.

Christopher Mark Robinson is an American musician. He founded the rock band The Black Crowes with his brother Rich Robinson in 1984. Chris is the lead singer of The Black Crowes, and he and his brother are the only continuous members of the Crowes. He is the vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, which was formed in 2011 while the Black Crowes were on hiatus.

Along with older brother Chris Robinson, Rich formed the band in 1984 while the two were attending Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia. At age 15, Rich wrote the music to what would become one of the band’s first singles; "She Talks to Angels".
