
The People's Artist was an honorary title for outstanding art performers of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania, whose merits were exceptional in the sphere of development of the performing arts. It was created by law in 1960 and amended in 1980. The title is no longer given in Albania after the law was amended in 1996. The equivalent of it became the "Grand Master of Work" title, that was also substituted with the "Grand Master" title after a 2001 amendment of the 1996 law.

He was awarded with the People's Artist of Albania and the Honour Citizen of Tirana medal. He created the first series of the Albanian lek. In 1994 he received the People's Artist of Albania through Sali Berisha. In 2016 Sadik Kaceli was given the Honour of Nation Order. He is one of the founders of the National Art Gallery of Albania, designed the first version of the Albanian lek, and made the People's Republic of Albania Coat of Arms.

Marie Kraja or Marie Paluca was an Albanian opera singer, who is particularly known for her delivery of Albanian folk songs.

Tinka Kurti is one of the best known Albanian actresses. Her body of work, in about 60 years, includes more than 50 feature movies and 150 theatre plays. She has been awarded the People's Artist of Albania medal.

Marie Logoreci was an Albanian actress in film and theater. She started her career as a singer in Radio Tirana (1945), before making her breakthrough appearance as an actress in the film The Great Warrior Skanderbeg (1953). With all the successful performances made in film, she remained a great actress of the Albanian cinema and icon of the Albanian National Theater. For her contributions she has received honorary titles People's Artist of Albania (1975) and Honor of Nation Order (2015).

Violeta Manushi was an Albanian actress. She was honored with the People's Artist of Albania. She is best known in Albania for her portrayal of Teto Ollga, a symbolic character which followed her for much of her career.

Skënder Sallaku was a notable Albanian comic and actor, recipient of the People's Artist of Albania award. He was also a notable national champion of Albania in Greco-Roman wrestling. His filmography includes Estrada në ekran (1968), Cirku në fshat (1977), Gjuetia e fundit (1992) and Revolja e humbur (1995). Skënder Sallaku died in Tirana, with family at his side in the morning of February 11, 2014.
