Astrophysical Observatory of Javalambre

The Astrophysical Observatory of Javalambre is a Spanish astronomical observatory located in the municipality of Arcos de las Salinas, Teruel. The facilities are located in the Pico del Buitre 1957 meters up in the Sierra de Javalambre. The observatory is managed by the Center for Physics Studies of the Cosmos of Aragon (CEFCA), dependent on the Department of Science, University and Knowledge Society Government of Aragon.

BOOTES, the Burst Observer and Optical Transient Exploring System, is a network of astronomical observatories with sites in Southern Spain, New Zealand, China, parts of the United States in Michigan and Mexico (mostly 0.6m diameter telescope with EMCCD camera at the Cassegrain focus and a g'r'i'ZY filterset. The main goal of the network is to quickly observe transient events within seconds or minutes of being detected by scientific satellites.

J-PAS is an astronomical survey to be carried out by the Observatorio Astrofísico de Javalambre (OAJ), located in Pico del Buitre in Sierra de Javalambre, near Teruel, in Spain. OAJ is constituted of two telescopes: a 2.5-metre primary mirror telescope (JST/T250) and an 80-centimeter telescope (JAST/T80). J-PAS will survey the sky in 56 colors with JST/T250 telescope and a large field 1.2 Giga-pixel camera, constituted by an array of 14 CCDs. J-PAS will observe more than 8000 square degrees during 5/6 years. J-PAS filters cover the entire visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum.
