The AEC Militant was a post-war development by AEC of the AEC Matador artillery tractor used during World War II. Externally the most noticeable development was the cab, which was considerably enlarged. Unlike the Matador only 6-wheel versions were produced. 4-wheel versions are extant, but they are probably conversions and one is a Matador with a Mk1 Militant cab. Other changes included the fitting of a larger, 11.3-litre 6-cylinder, diesel engine and the use of a steel frame for the cab, rather than the ash (fraxinus) wood frame of the Matador. The Militant Mark 1 was produced in 6x4 and 6x6 form.

The original "Deuce and a Half", it formed the backbone of the famed Red Ball Express that kept Allied armies supplied as they pushed eastward after the Normandy invasion.

The M1161 Growler is officially the Internally Transportable Light Strike Vehicle (ITV-LSV) designed specifically for use with the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft. The M1161 and M1163 are the only tactical vehicles certified to fly in the V-22. Fulfilling multiple roles of light utility, light strike and fast attack vehicle, the M1161 Growler is smaller than most international vehicles in the same role. It has taken over duties of the M151 jeep-type variants and replaced the Interim Fast Attack Vehicle (IFAV). A separate US Marine Corps variant, the shorter two-seat M1163 prime mover is combined with the M327 towed 120mm heavy mortar, and also became its ammunition hauler after the M1162 trailer was cancelled.

K-30 and the similar K-62(-A) differed in cubic feet and overall height from the K-31. On the accompanying image in the infobox can be seen, that the K-30 beside in cubic feet and overall height differed from the K-31 in having a window on the right side of the van body. The panels at the back and at both sides were formed by two halves, that were folded up and down respectively. This truck contains a high-power radio transmitter, a cooling system for the transmitter tubes, two cathode-ray oscilloscopes, two superheterodyne receivers, a vacuum-tube keyer, a plotting table, and containers for spare parts and tubes.

The power it delivered to the radar came from a PE-74 generator. 2) 3) 4) Similar vehicles were the K-30 and K-62 or K-62-A, all three operating trucks for the SCR-270. K-31 differed in cubic feet and overall height from K-30 and K-62. The K-62 AND K-62A were the successors of both the K-30 and K-31. Note the difference in form of the wheel arch of the van body between the depicted vehicles that shows that there must have been successive models from York-Hoover. The third image in het gallery shows that the two panels at each side were folded up when the vehicles where operated, while the panels at the back where two halves that were folded up and down respectively.
