WA scenic viewpoint – also called an observation point, viewpoint, viewing point, vista point, lookout, scenic overlook, etc. – is an elevated location where people can view scenery and photograph it. Scenic viewpoints may be created alongside mountain roads, often as simple turnouts or lay-bys where motorists can pull over onto pavement, gravel, or grass on the right-of-way.
WThe Belvedér calls itself the oldest viewing point in Bohemian Switzerland in the Czech Republic. It is located near Labská Stráň (Elbleiten) high above the Elbe valley.
WThe Glass Elephant is a landmark in Hamm, Germany. The former coal-washing building in the Maximilian colliery was reconstructed as a walk-in sculpture by the artist and architect Horst Rellecke for Hamm's horticultural show in 1984.
WLadies View is a scenic viewpoint on the Ring of Kerry tourist route about 19 kilometres from Killarney along the N71 road to Kenmare, in the Killarney National Park in Ireland. The Irish Times ranked Ladies View as one of the most photographed places in Ireland, while the Daily Edge ranked the views amongst Ireland's finest on Instagram. The name Ladies View, stems from the admiration of the view given by Queen Victoria's ladies-in-waiting during Victoria's 1861 visit to Ireland. In October 2017, a tourist couple almost drove their rental car over the edge of the cliff and into the valley below.
WThe Mirador del Obispado is located at the top of the Cerro del Obispado in the northern city of Monterrey, Mexico. It features the biggest bandera monumental in Mexico. The hill and the lookout receive their name from the building constructed in the middle of the hill by the end of the 18th century, the Palacio del Obispado.
WOld Wolfstein Castle, is a ruined hillside castle on the eastern slopes of the Königsberg at the narrowest point in the Lauter valley near Wolfstein in the county of Kusel in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
WStegastein is a scenic overlook on Sogn og Fjordane County Road 243 in Norway. The 30-metre (98 ft) long and 4-metre (13 ft) wide platform of steel and laminated pine overlooks Aurlandsvangen and the Aurlandsfjord. This project is part of a national program of tourist routes commissioned by the Norwegian Highway Department.
