WFederated Farmers of New Zealand Incorporated is an organisation in New Zealand which lobbies on behalf of its member farmers.
WInvermay Agricultural Centre is located close to Mosgiel, on the Taieri Plains in Otago, New Zealand. Part of AgResearch, it is a scientific research centre specialising in research into genomics, animal reproduction, land management and biosecurity.
WThe New Zealand Meat Board, previously known as Meat New Zealand, was established in 1922 as the New Zealand Meat Producers Board, under an Act of Parliament, the Meat-export Control Act 1921–22. It provided for producer, government and business representation and took responsibility for marketing New Zealand's meat for export. Today, the Meat Board provides quota and reserves management while Beef + Lamb New Zealand provides industry good functions.
WNew Zealand Young Farmers (NZYF) is a national agricultural organisation with clubs throughout the country. It was formed in 1927 in the town of Feilding. The organisation acts as a social network for rural youth around the country and is actively involved in education and promotion of personal skills for its members. There are over 1500 members in 78 clubs around the country, all backed by the national organisation, which has its headquarters in Templeton, Canterbury. The organisation's current chair is Ash-Leigh Campbell.
WThe Pastoral Greenhouse Gas Research Consortium (PGGRC) carries out research to find methods of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from livestock. The consortium, established in 2004, has a Memorandum of Understanding with the New Zealand Government. Almost half of the greenhouse gas emissions in New Zealand are due to agriculture and since the New Zealand government has signed and ratified the Kyoto Protocol methods are being sought to seek a reduction of these emissions.
WThe Rare Breeds Conservation Society of New Zealand (RBCSNZ) was founded in 1988 to conserve, record and promote rare livestock breeds with the aim of maintaining genetic diversity within livestock species. The area of coverage is broad, and includes poultry as well as camelids, cattle, chinchillas, deer, donkeys, goats, horses, pigs, rabbits and sheep.
WRural Heritage Southland is a Heritage Trust that was established in 2002. Originally it was designed to illustrate family farm life in Southland, New Zealand from the inter-war period of 1925–1935. The focus has now shifted to include all southern rural heritage. As such, the Rural Heritage Southland now has assumed more of a stewardship role of safeguarding and promoting the rural past through its various projects.
WNew Zealand Soil Bureau was a division of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research specializing in soil-related research and development. Originally formed as the 'soil survey group' of the 'Geological Survey,' they became the 'Soil Survey Division' in 1936 and 'Soil Bureau' in 1945. Established adjacent to Taita College on approximately 90 acres on the Eastern Hills of Lower Hutt north of Wellington, the foyer featured a large mural by Ernest Mervyn Taylor depicting a cloaked figure using a kō. Soil Bureau completed nationwide soil surveys of New Zealand.
