
The Cinema of South India is used to refer collectively the four distinct film industries of Southern region of India – Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada film industries – as a single entity.

According to The Hindu, most distributors informed Jeevi that his reviews affect the box office performance of films, particularly in overseas. DVD rental prices were also affected due to his reviews, according to a report by CNN-IBN.

The Nandi Awards are the awards that recognise the excellence in Telugu cinema, Telugu theatre and Telugu television, and Lifetime achievements in Indian cinema. Presented annually by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the award is named after the big granite bull at Lepakshi — a cultural and historical symbol of the Telugu people. "Nandi" means "bull" in Telugu language.

Pasupuleti Purna Chandra Rao was an Indian theatre activist, film editor and critic. In 2014, he garnered the National Film Award for Best Book on Cinema for his book on silent cinema titled Silent Cinema (1895–1930) at the 62nd National Film Awards by then President, Pranab Mukherjee.

The SIIMA Award for Best Film - Telugu is presented by Vibri media group as part of its annual South Indian International Movie Awards for Telugu films. The award was first given in 2012 for films released in 2011.

Telugu Cinema Charitra, is a research book on Telugu Cinema History, by film critic, writer and Journalist B. Venkateshwarlu, published in 1997. The book is considered one of the first major studies of Telugu Film Industry between 1912 and 1995.

Telugu Cinema Vythalikulu, is a 2002 research book on Telugu cinema persons like directors, actors, artists, producers and technicians, by film critic, writer and journalist Bulemoni Venkateshwarlu. The book is considered one of the major studies of Telugu Filmdom and film personalities between 1908 and 2002.

Vauhini Studios is an Indian film production company, and one of the largest production houses in South Asia at that time. Vauhini Studios was founded by Moola Narayana Swamy an Indian film producer, known for his works in Telugu cinema. In later years, B. Nagi Reddy acquired Vauhini Studios, and later merged it with Vijaya Vauhini Studios.
