
Sagitta is a dim but distinctive constellation in the northern sky. Its name is Latin for 'arrow', not to be confused with the significantly larger constellation Sagittarius 'the archer'. It was included among the 48 constellations listed by the 2nd-century astronomer Ptolemy, and it remains one of the 88 modern constellations defined by the International Astronomical Union. Although it dates to antiquity, Sagitta has no star brighter than 3rd magnitude and has the third-smallest area of any constellation.

Alpha Sagittae, formally named Sham, is a single star in the northern constellation of Sagitta. Alpha Sagittae is the Bayer designation, which is latinized from α Sagittae and abbreviated Alpha Sge or α Sge. It is visible to the naked eye as a yellow-hued star with an apparent visual magnitude of +4.38. Despite the name, this is not the brightest star in the constellation – that distinction belongs to Gamma Sagittae. Based upon parallax measurements, Alpha Sagittae is approximately 382 light-years from the Sun. It is moving further away from the Earth with a heliocentric radial velocity of 1.7 km/s.

Beta Sagittae, Latinized from β Sagittae, is a single star in the northern constellation of Sagitta. It is a faint star but visible to the naked eye with an apparent visual magnitude of 4.38. Based upon an annual parallax shift of 7.7237 mas as seen from the Gaia satellite, it is located 420 light years from the Sun. The star is moving closer to the Sun with a radial velocity of −22 km/s.

The Black Widow Pulsar is an eclipsing binary millisecond pulsar in the Milky Way. Discovered in 1988, it is located roughly 6,500 light-years away from Earth. It orbits with a brown dwarf companion with a period of 9.2 hours with an eclipse duration of approximately 20 minutes. When it was discovered it was the first such pulsar known. The prevailing theoretical explanation for the system implied that the companion is being destroyed by the gravitational environment caused by the neutron star, and so the sobriquet black widow was applied to the object. Subsequent to this, other objects with similar features have been discovered, and the name has been applied to the class of millisecond pulsars with an ablating companion.

Delta Sagittae is a binary star in the constellation of Sagitta, with an apparent magnitude of +3.68. The primary component is a red M-type bright giant, and the secondary is a B-type main-sequence star. It is approximately 430 light years from Earth, based on its Gaia Data Release 2 parallax.

Epsilon Sagittae (ε Sagittae) is a solitary, yellow-hued star in the northern constellation of Sagitta. With an apparent visual magnitude of +5.64 to +5.67, it is faintly visible to the naked eye on a dark night. It is a variable star with a small amplitude of 0.03 magnitudes. Based upon an annual parallax shift of 5.60 mas as seen from Earth, it is located roughly 580 light years from the Sun. At that distance, the visual magnitude of the star is diminished by an extinction factor of 0.1 due to interstellar dust.

Eta Sagittae (η Sagittae) is solitary star in the northern constellation of Sagitta. It is faintly visible to the naked eye, having an apparent visual magnitude of +5.09. Based upon an annual parallax shift of 20.34 mas, it is approximately 160 light years distant from the Sun. There is a 61.1% chance that it is a member of the Hyades-Pleiades stream of stars that share a common motion through space.

Gamma Sagittae, Latinized from γ Sagittae, is the brightest star in northern constellation of Sagitta. A single star, it is visible to the naked eye with an apparent visual magnitude of +3.47. Based upon an annual parallax shift of 12.62 mas as seen from Earth, it is located about 258 light years from the Sun. It is moving closer to the Sun with a radial velocity of −34 km/s.

Messier 71 is a globular cluster in the constellation Sagitta. It was discovered by Philippe Loys de Chéseaux in 1745 and included by Charles Messier in his catalog of non-comet-like objects in 1780. It was also noted by Koehler at Dresden around 1775.

The Necklace Nebula is a 19-trillion-kilometre-wide planetary nebula located about 15,000 light-years away in the northern constellation Sagitta. It was discovered in 2005 from the Isaac Newton Telescope Photometric H-alpha Survey (IPHAS), a ground-based H-alpha planetary nebula study of the North Galactic Plane.

NGC 6886 is a planetary nebula in the constellation Sagitta. It was discovered by Ralph Copeland on September 17, 1884. It is 4.6 ± 1.0 kiloparsec (15.0 ± 3.3 kly) distant from earth, and is composed of a hot central post-AGB star that has 55% of the Sun's mass yet 2700 ± 850 its luminosity, with a surface temperature of 142,000 K. The planetary nebula is thought to have been expanding for between 1280 and 1600 years.

Theta Sagittae (θ Sagittae) is a double star in the northern constellation of Sagitta. With a combined apparent visual magnitude of +6, it is near the limit of stars that can be seen with the naked eye. According to the Bortle scale the star is visible in dark suburban/rural skies. Based upon an annual parallax shift of 22.15 mas as seen from Earth, it is located roughly 147 light years from the Sun.

V Sagittae or V Sge is a cataclysmic variable binary star system in the constellation Sagitta that is expected to go nova and briefly become the most luminous point of light in the Milky Way and the brightest stars in our sky around the year 2083. The system is composed of a main sequence star of about 3.3 solar masses and a white dwarf of about 0.9 solar masses; the fact that the white dwarf is less massive than its companion is highly unusual, and V Sge is the only super soft X-ray source nonmagnetic cataclysmic variable found so far.

WR 124 is a Wolf–Rayet star in the constellation of Sagitta surrounded by a ring nebula of expelled material known as M1-67. It is one of the fastest runaway stars in the Milky Way with a radial velocity around 200 km/s. It was discovered by Paul W. Merrill in 1938, identified as a high-velocity Wolf–Rayet star. It is listed in the General Catalogue of Variable Stars as QR Sagittae with a range of 0.08 magnitudes.

Zeta Sagittae (ζ Sagittae) is triple star system in the northern constellation of Sagitta. It is visible to the naked eye, having a combined apparent visual magnitude of +5.00. Based upon an annual parallax shift of 12.79 mas, the distance to this star is approximately 260 light years.
