A viaduct is a specific type of bridge that consists of a series of arches, piers, or columns supporting a long elevated railway or road. Typically a viaduct connects two points of roughly equal elevation allowing passage over a valley, road, river, or other low-lying feature or obstruction. The term viaduct is derived from the Latin via for road and ducere, to lead. It is a nineteenth-century derivation from an analogy with ancient Roman aqueducts. Like the Roman aqueducts, many early viaducts comprised a series of arches of roughly equal length.
Bebresh Viaduct is a girder bridge part of the Bulgarian Hemus motorway, located in Vitinya Pass in Stara Planina 60 km east of Sofia, at 650 m above sea level. It was opened in 1985 and was designed by the team of D. Dragoev, P. Minchev and Y. Todorov of Moststroy AD.

Viaduto do Chá is a viaduct of São Paulo, Brazil. It was the first viaduct built in the city, and was instigated by Jules Martin, a French immigrant to the city. The 240-metre (790 ft) span crosses the Vale do Anhangabaú. Originally conceived in 1877, construction started in 1888 before being stopped one month later by a court case brought by local residents. Construction resumed in 1889, and the iron bridge was completed in 1892. The original viaduct was replaced in 1938 with a new concrete span. It often appears in TV interviews, as well as films and telenovelas set in São Paulo.

The Conchi viaduct, or Loa viaduct, is located on the Loa River in Chile, 68 kilometres (42 mi) from Calama. It was built to carry part of the Ferrocarril de Antofagasta a Bolivia. It stands 103 metres (338 ft) above the river and is 244 metres (801 ft) long. When opened in 1888 and it was the second highest rail bridge in the world, after the Garabit viaduct.

It was opened by President José Manuel Balmaceda on October 26, 1890. At that time, it was the highest such bridge in the world. The Panamerican Highway passes right next to the viaduct.

Ponte Morandi, officially Viadotto Polcevera, was a road viaduct in Genoa (Italy), constructed between 1963 and 1967 along Italy's A10 motorway over the river Polcevera, from which it derived its official name. The bridge is widely called "Ponte Morandi" after its structural designer, the noted engineer Riccardo Morandi.

Nusle Bridge is a prestressed concrete viaduct in Prague, Czechia. It connects Prague 2 and Prague 4, across a valley which forms part of the Nusle district. The bridge is one of the longest in the country and carries two footpaths, a multi-lane road and part of the city's rapid transit network.

The Öresund or Øresund Bridge is a combined railway and motorway bridge across the Öresund strait between Sweden and Denmark. It is the longest combined road and rail bridge in Europe, running nearly 8 kilometres from the Swedish coast to the artificial island Peberholm in the middle of the strait. The crossing is completed by the 4-kilometre (2.5 mi) Drogden Tunnel from Peberholm to the Danish island of Amager.

The Varda Viaduct, aka Giaour Dere Viaduct, locally known as "Alman Köprüsü" or "Koca Köprü", is a railway viaduct situated at Hacıkırı (Kıralan) village in Karaisalı district of Adana Province in southern Turkey. Designed and built by Imperial German engineers as part of the Baghdad Railway, the stone arch structure is 63 km (39 mi) from Adana Central Station and 306 km (190 mi) from Konya.

Žampach viaduct is a railway arch bridge in the Czech Republic near the village of Žampach, part of Kamenný Přívoz, Prague-West District. It is the highest stone bridge in the country. It is 41.73 m high, 109.3 m long, and formed by seven arches, each 12 m wide. It was constructed from 1898 to 1900 mainly by Italian workers.
The Zeeland Bridge is the longest bridge in the Netherlands. The bridge spans the Oosterschelde estuary. It connects the islands of Schouwen-Duiveland and Noord-Beveland in the province of Zeeland.
