WAlro SA, established in 1963, is one of the biggest aluminium companies in Romania and in Europe. It started operation in 1965. Alro's primary aluminium facilities are located in Slatina and currently are a smelter and processing facilities. It also includes a cast house, hot and cold rolling mills and an extrusion shop.
WARO was a Romanian off-road vehicle manufacturer located in Câmpulung. The first ARO vehicles were produced in 1957, and the last in 2003. For a short while, Daihatsu-powered AROs were sold in Spain and produced in Portugal under the brands Hisparo and Portaro, respectively. In Italy, AROs were produced by Ali Ciemme and sold under the ACM brand, often fitted with Volkswagen engines.

WThe Călan steel works, formerly the Victoria Steel Works Călan, were a steel mill in the Transylvanian town of Călan, Romania. Begun around 1870, when the area was part of Austria-Hungary, the works underwent a powerful expansion following nationalization in 1948 by the nascent Communist regime, making a vital contribution to the growth of the town. Privatization in the late 1990s proved unsuccessful, and the works were largely abandoned within a decade, leading to economic hardship for Călan.
