
Amar Kutir, once a place of refuge for independence movement activists has been turned into a cooperative society for the promotion of arts and crafts. It is located on the banks of the Kopai River, about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from Santiniketan in Birbhum district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

The Andhra Pradesh State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society popularly known as APCO (ఆప్కో), is a cooperative of traditional handloom weavers of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. This is under the control of Department of Handlooms and Textiles of Government of Andhra Pradesh. The organisation owns a number of shopping outlets in Andhra Pradesh. The society was registered in the year 1976 with registered No. T.P.W. 44 under the Andhra Pradesh Cooperative Societies Act.

Banas Dairy (Banaskantha District Cooperative Milk Federation, Palanpur) is a statutory corporation under the ownership of Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Darying ,Government of Gujarat based in the Banaskantha district of Gujarat, India and is Asia's largest milk producer. It was founded in 1969, in accordance with the 1961 rule of the National Dairy Development Board under Operation Flood. Galbabhai Nanjibhai Patel played an important role in the foundation of the dairy. It is headquartered at Palanpur.

This is under the control of Department of Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi of Government of Tamil Nadu. The organisation owns a number of shopping outlets in Tamil Nadu. Co-Optex also has an international arm, Co-optex International which exports its products to Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, Canada, Greece, Hong Kong, U.K. South Africa and the U.A.E.

Harichand Megha Dalaya was the inventor of the first spray-dryer for buffalo milk in the world. His invention revolutionized India's dairy farming industry and laid the foundation for Amul cooperative's immense success.

It has been a hub for Communist and Socialist movements for generations. Thus it has played a very important role in the politics of India.

Lakshmi Chand Jain (1925–2010) was a political activist and writer. Later, he served at various times as a member of the Planning Commission, as Indian High commissioner to South Africa, as a member of the World Commission on Dams (WCD) and as secretary of the Indian Cooperative Union and the All-India Handicrafts Board. His position as the ambassador was terminated as the Vajpayee Government felt that he had not defended India's position on Nuclear tests effectively in South Africa. He eventually joined Indian National Congress. He was posthumously awarded Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award, by the UPA government. However his family declined to accept the award, saying that Jain was against accepting State Honours.

Verghese Kurien, known as the "Father of the White Revolution" in India, was a social entrepreneur whose "billion-litre idea", Operation Flood, made dairy farming India's largest self-sustaining industry and the largest rural employment sector providing a third of all rural income. It made India the world's largest milk producer, doubled the milk available for each person, and increased milk output four-fold in 30 years.

Sir Malcolm Lyall Darling was a member of the Indian Civil Service (ICS) who was appointed Assistant Commissioner of the Punjab, British India, in 1904. Having held numerous other posts, he became Financial Commissioner of the same province in 1936 and retired from the ICS in 1940. Thereafter, he was engaged in various roles, including as chairman of the Horace Plunkett Foundation, and was for some time head of the BBC India Section.

A freedom fighter, a Gandhian, a fearless leader, a social worker, a tireless advocate, a cooperative philosopher who worked selflessly for the benefit of millions of people in India. Tribhuvandas Patel's single quality that stands out is his utter dislike for self promotion, a quality that many admire in the numerous institutions he built and served.

Rehwa Society is a not-for-profit foundation, working with weavers in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh. Established in 1978, by Richard and Sally Holkar as a weaver's society. It is known for its Maheshwar sarees, in silk and cotton.

Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad, popularly known as Lijjat, is an Indian women's worker cooperative involved in manufacturing of various fast-moving consumer goods. The organisation's main objective is empowerment of women by providing them employment opportunities. Started in 1959 by seven women in Mumbai with a seed capital of only Rs.80 ($1.5), it had an annual turnover of more than Rs.1600 crore in 2019. It provides employment to 45,000 women across the country.

Shri Keshavrao Sonavane (1925–2006)(Marathi: केशवराव सोनवणे ) was an Indian politician, who served four terms in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, and was a Co-operative minister in Yashwantrao Chavan's cabinet and later Vasantrao Naik's cabinet during 1962–1967. He was elected as Member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for 4 times, twice from Latur constituency and twice from Ausa constituency.

Sri Vijaya Visakha Milk Producers Company Ltd ( ) is a statutory corporation under the ownership of Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Darying, Government of Andhra Pradesh in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It sells products such as pedha, paneer, curds and milk in the name of Visakha Dairy. It works on cooperative principles. Almost every North Coastal district in the state has milk producing co-operatives. The milk is collected from member farmers, processed and sold in the market under the brand of Visakha Dairy. It is the largest milk co-operative in the state.
