Petre Mito Andreevski was a famous Macedonian poet, novelist, short story writer and playwright. His most famous novel is the historical novel Pirej (1980) and his most famous poetry collection is Denicija (1968).

Nikola "Kole" Chashule was a Macedonian essayist, dramatist, short story writer and ambassador. Chashule was one of the founders of the Macedonian Writers' Association and served as the organization's president.

Stoyan Christowe was an American author, journalist and noted Vermont political figure. Born in then Konomladi, he is best remembered as the author of six books written about the Balkans and as a Vermont legislator committed to promoting social justice and literacy. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje in the Republic of North Macedonia and was elected an honorary member of the Macedonian Academy of Arts and Sciences (MANU).

Dimitar Dimitrov, born 1937 in Tsakoni near Aridaia, Pella regional unit, Greece, is an ethnic Macedonian philosopher, writer, journalist, and diplomat who was the Minister of Culture and Minister of Education in the Republic of North Macedonia.

Igor Džambazov is a Macedonian actor, showman, TV presenter, comedian, singer, songwriter, and prosaist. He was born on July 15, 1963 in Skopje to composer Aleksandar Džambazov and actress Anche Džambazova. His grandfather was the renowned Macedonian actor Petre Prličko.
Vasil Iljoski (Macedonian: Васил Иљоски, was a Macedonian writer, dramatist, professor and an important figure in Macedonian literature, especially in Macedonian drama between the two World Wars.

Katica Kulavkova is a Macedonian writer and academic. She has published over forty books, including twenty collections of poetry. Kulavkova is a professor in the philology faculty at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje and a vice president of the literary organization PEN International.

Božin Pavlovski is a Macedonian-Australian novelist whose works have been translated into more than twenty languages. He has lived in Australia for the past three decades and is in the prime of his creative life. He is a novelist–mediator between two cultures whose novels interpret the binary logic by which his characters are both “here” and in the country in which they were born or originate from. In his latest novel 'Gardener, Desert’ (2015), Pavlovski transmits through a Romanesque lens his vision of the transnational, cosmopolitan, multilingual and hybrid map of the world.

Georgi Pulevski, sometimes also Gjorgji or Gjorgjija Pulevski was a Mijak writer and revolutionary, known today as the first author to express publicly the idea of a Macedonian nation distinct from Bulgarian, as well as a separate Macedonian language. Pulevski was born in 1817 in Galičnik, then under the rule of the Ottoman Empire, and died in 1895 in Sofia, Principality of Bulgaria. Trained as a stonemason, he became a self-taught writer in matters relating to Macedonian language and culture. In Bulgaria he is regarded as a Bulgarian and early adherent to Macedonism.

Kosta Apostolov Solev was a Macedonian author and socialist activist who is considered a founder of modern Macedonian literature. His poem collection White Dawns is one of the most important masterpieces in Macedonian modern literature. Racin wrote in prose too and created some significant works with themes from history, philosophy, and literary critique. While he wrote also in standard Bulgarian language and had some pro-Bulgarian views, he is regarded also a Bulgarian by some authors in Bulgaria.

Goran Stefanovski was a leading Macedonian dramatist, screenwriter, essayist, lecturer and public intellectual. He wrote for the theatre, television and film, as well as pursuing a long academic career in teaching creative writing for the theatre and film.

Goran Trenchovski is a Macedonian director, writer, artistic leader, founder, lecturer, humanist. He is the current head of AsterFest, and lives in Great Britain.
