
Antonio Cortón was a Puerto Rican writer, journalist and literary critic. He traveled to and from Spain and was a newspaper editor for a Barcelona paper during the Spanish Restoration, after Spain lost Puerto Rico and other colonies in the Spanish-American War. He wrote Las Antillas, and the biography of José de Espronceda, a Spanish poet.

Samuel Beníquez Méndez, is a Puerto Rican businessman, musician, composer, producer, communication strategist and author of several books such as: "Tu alto precio... Mi Gran Valor" and “El Niño Versus la Bestia”.
Federico Degetau y González was a Puerto Rican politician, lawyer, writer, author, and the first Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico to the United States House of Representatives.

Jaquira Díaz is a Puerto Rican fiction writer, essayist, journalist, cultural critic, and contributor to many notable periodicals. She is the author of Ordinary Girls, which received a Whiting Award in Nonfiction, a Florida Book Awards Gold Medal, was a Lambda Literary Award Finalist, and a Barnes & Noble Discover Prize Finalist. Her work has appeared in The Best American Essays, Tin House, The Sun, The Fader, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Longreads, and other places. She is an editor at the Kenyon Review and a visiting professor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. As of 2019, she lives and works in Miami Beach, Florida with her partner, writer Lars Horn.

PFC Carmen García Rosado is an educator, author and activist for the rights of women veterans who was among the first 200 Puerto Rican women to be recruited into the WAC's during World War II. Her book "LAS WACS-Participacion de la Mujer Boricua en la Segunda Guerra Mundial", is the first book to document the experiences of the first 200 Puerto Rican women who participated in said conflict as members of the armed forces of the United States.

José Luis González was a Puerto Rican essayist, novelist, short story writer, university professor, and journalist who lived most of his life in exile in Mexico due to his pro-independence political views. He is considered to be one of the most important Puerto Rican authors of the 20th century, particularly for his book Puerto Rico: The Four-Storeyed Country and Other Essays, which was first published in Spanish in 1980.

Rosa A. González, RN, was a nurse, author, feminist and activist. She established various health clinics throughout Puerto Rico and was the founder of The Association of Registered Nurses of Puerto Rico. In 1929, Gonzalez wrote a book titled "Los Hechos Desconocidos", in which she denounced the discrimination against women and nurses in Puerto Rico. González’s book convinced James R. Beverley, the Interim Governor of Puerto Rico, to sign Ley 77 in May 1930, which established a Nurses Examining Board. In 1978, she was the first recipient of the Public Health Department of Puerto Rico Garrido Morales Award.

Javier "Javi" Grillo-Marxuach, born October 28, 1969 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a television screenwriter and producer, and podcaster, known for his work as writer and producer on the first two seasons of the ABC television series Lost, as well as other series including Charmed and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.

Major Hila Levy-Williams is an intelligence officer in the United States Air Force who was the first Puerto Rican to be awarded a Rhodes Scholarship.

Maria Teresa "Tere" Marichal Lugo, better known as her character Maria Chuzema is a Puerto Rican of Spaniard descent who is an actress, writer, ventriloquist, playwright and television personality. For 25 years starting in 1987, her television show, *La Casa de Maria Chuzema", was shown on Puerto Rico's government channel, the PBS-affiliated Canal 6.

Antonio ("Toño") Martorell Cardona is a Puerto Rican painter, graphic artist and writer. He regularly exhibits in Puerto Rico and the United States and participates in arts events around the world. He spends his time between his workshops in Ponce, Hato Rey, and New York City, his presentations worldwide and his academic work in Cayey, Puerto Rico.

Jason Joseph Mattera is an American writer, conservative activist, radio host, and Emmy-nominated journalist. Originally from New York City, Mattera started in conservative political activism as a student at Roger Williams University. In 2010, Mattera released his first New York Times bestseller, Obama Zombies. Mattera's second book, Hollywood Hypocrites, was published in 2012, and his third book, Crapitalism, was published in 2014, all by Simon & Schuster. Mattera was editor of Human Events magazine from 2010–12, and from 2010–13 hosted a weekend talk show on New York City station 77 WABC.

Willie Perdomo is a Puerto Rican poet and children's book author. He is the author of The Essential Hits of Shorty Bon Bon, a National Book Critics Circle Awards finalist, Where a Nickel Costs a Dime, Postcards of El Barrio, and Smoking Lovely, which received a PEN Beyond Margins Award. His children's book, Visiting Langston, received the Coretta Scott King Honor. Perdomo was also the recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts Poetry Fellowship in 2001 and 2009. He is a Pushcart Prize nominee, and recently was a Woolrich Fellow in Creative Writing at Columbia University. He is co-founder/publisher of Cypher Books, a VONA/Voices faculty member, and is currently an instructor in English at Phillips Exeter Academy. He is married to Emmy Award-winning journalist and writer, Sandra Guzman.
