It was acquired by Ichijinsha, who published the first light novel volume in August 2015 under their Ichijinsha Bunko Iris imprint. Nine volumes have been released as of April 2020. Sword Art Online is a Japanese light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by abec. The series takes place in the near future and focuses on protagonist Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya and Asuna Yuuki as they play through various virtual reality MMORPG worlds. Kawahara originally wrote the series as a web novel on his website from 2002 to 2008. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime also known as TenSura (転スラ) or Slime Isekai is a Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Fuse, and illustrated by Mitz Vah. It was serialized online between 2013 and 2016 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It was acquired by Micro Magazine, who published the first light novel volume in 2014. Sixteen volumes have been released as of March 2020. The light novel has been licensed in North America by Yen Press, who published the first volume in December 2017. It has received a manga adaptation published by Kodansha along with three manga spin-offs published respectively by Micro Magazine and Kodansha and an anime television series adaptation by Eight Bit, which aired from October 2018 to March 2019. A second season of the anime series was slated to premiere in October 2020 but has been pushed to January 2021 due to COVID-19, and an anime adaptation of the second spin-off manga was slated premiere in January 2021, but has been delayed to April 2021 due to the same circumstances.

Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy is a Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Kei Azumi and illustrated by Mitsuaki Matsumoto. It began serialization online in 2012 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō, and it moved to the AlphaPolis website in 2016. It was also later acquired by AlphaPolis, who have published fifteen volumes since May 2013. The Familiar of Zero is a Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Noboru Yamaguchi, with illustrations by Eiji Usatsuka. Media Factory published 20 volumes between June 2004 and February 2011. The series was left unfinished due to the author's death in 2013, but was later concluded in two volumes released in February 2016 and February 2017 with a different author, making use of notes left behind by Yamaguchi. The story features several characters from the second year class of a magic academy in a fictional magical world with the main characters being the inept mage Louise and her familiar from Earth, Saito Hiraga.
