MTV Unplugged is an American television series on MTV showcasing musical artists usually playing acoustic instruments. The show aired regularly from 1989 to 1999 and less frequently from 2000 to 2009, when it was usually billed as MTV Unplugged No. 2.0. Since 2009 MTV Unplugged specials have aired occasionally, sometimes online only. Episodes and specials have tended to showcase one artist or group, playing a combination of their hit songs and covers.

Losing My Mind and No More Tears were performed in public for the first time during the show. Juliette Lewis, Ray Davies, Klaus Voormann and Lana Del Rey are performing as guests. Mando Diao´s former keyboarder, Daniel Haglund, also appears as guest and additional musician.

The first seven tracks were recorded live at MTV Studios in Miami, Florida, for the show MTV Unplugged. The remaining four tracks were Sueño Stereo outtakes recorded in studio. The album was released by BMG Argentina in 1996. It was also the first Latin band to depart from the use of only acoustic instruments, using for most of the televised set conventional "plugged" instruments. Proof of this paradox is the fading "Un" part of the word unplugged depicted in the album cover.

Kiss Unplugged is an MTV Unplugged album by American rock band Kiss. On August 9, 1995, the band performed on MTV Unplugged. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons contacted former members Peter Criss and Ace Frehley and invited them to participate. Fan reaction to Criss and Frehley at the show was so positive that, in 1996, the original lineup of Kiss reunited, with all four original members together for the first time since 1979. It is the first live album by the band that is not part of the Alive series.

Gang Of Youths bassist Max Dunn said the performance was a “pretty important moment” for the group. Dunn said “It's a cool chance to do something a little different and stretch ourselves and give the fans a little more experience of the songs. That's kind of the main thing. In terms of ‘MTV Unplugged’, it’s an important thing from back in the day and it's cool that it's happening and we get to be a part of it.” The recording took place at Cobblestone Pavilion, West Melbourne on 25 July 2018 and was broadcast on MTV Australia on 19 August 2018. The album was released on 26 October 2018.

In a break with MTV Unplugged convention, Nirvana played mainly lesser-known material and covers of songs by the Vaselines, David Bowie, Lead Belly, and Meat Puppets. Meat Puppets members Cris and Curt Kirkwood joined Nirvana for three songs.

The performance comes from her 2002 MTV Unplugged special recorded on July 21, 2001 at MTV Studios in Times Square, New York City. The long-awaited reunion between Jimmy Page and Robert Plant occurred on a 90-minute "UnLedded" MTV project, recorded in Morocco, Wales, and London. It was not a reunion of Led Zeppelin, however, as former bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones was not present. In fact, Jones was not even told about the reunion by his former bandmates. He later commented that he was unhappy about Plant and Page naming the album after "No Quarter", a Led Zeppelin song which was largely his work.

Unplugged: The Complete 1991 and 2001 Sessions is a 2014 live album from alternative rock band R.E.M., released initially on vinyl recordings through Rhino Records for Record Store Day, later made available on compact disc and digitally. Unplugged is an acoustic live album by Canadian musician Bryan Adams. The album was recorded completely on September 26, 1997 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Recorded by David Hewitt and Bob Clearmountain on the Remote Recording Silver Truck. Adams was joined by Irish piper Davy Spillane and Michael Kamen who wrote orchestrations for many of the songs and brought students from the Juilliard School to play them. Three new songs were included; "Back To You", "When You Love Someone", and "A Little Love". The song "If Ya Wanna Be Bad - Ya Gotta Be Good" makes its debut on an album, originally appearing on the B-side of "Let's Make a Night to Remember" - to which it is paired on the Unplugged album. Absent from both the CD and DVD is "Hey Elvis", which is available on the single of "Back To You". A second single was released in early 1998, an acoustic reworking of the hardrock song "I'm Ready".

A new song, "The Killer Is Me", was performed for the first time during the concert. The acoustic version of "Over Now" was released as a single. The album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, and has been certified platinum by the RIAA. The performance was released on DVD on October 26, 1999, and re-released as a CD/DVD package featuring unaired footage on September 18, 2007. The home video release has received gold certification by RIAA.

The Corrs Unplugged is a live album by Irish band The Corrs, released in 1999. The album is part of MTV's Unplugged series. It was released internationally but for a short time was not available in the United States until later. The song "No Frontiers" was sung by Sharon and Caroline, with Jim playing the piano. It is a cover of the Mary Black song, written by Jimmy MacCarthy.

It was recorded as part of the television program MTV Unplugged on July 4, 2005 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in Brooklyn, New York City. It was released in the United States on October 11, 2005 by J Records. The album includes songs from her multi-platinum albums Songs in A Minor and The Diary of Alicia Keys. It debuted on the US Billboard 200 chart at number one, with first-week sales of 196,000 copies in the US, and over 245,000 copies worldwide, the highest debut for an MTV Unplugged album since Nirvana's 1994 MTV Unplugged in New York and the first Unplugged by a female artist to debut at number one. The album has sold over one million copies in the United States and over 2.5 million copies worldwide. Additionally, it received four nominations for the 2006 Grammy Awards, including Best R&B Album.

Unplugged is a live unplugged performance by Paul McCartney, recorded and released in 1991. Following the vastness of his world tour recently captured on Tripping the Live Fantastic, McCartney relished the opportunity to strip back his songs and appear on the newly launched acoustic-only show MTV Unplugged. Consequently, McCartney was the first in a long line of artists to release an unplugged album.

Unplugged...and Seated is a live album released by British musician Rod Stewart on 24 May 1993. It is Stewart's second live album and his first appearance on MTV Unplugged. The album was released by Warner Bros. Records. The unplugged versions of "Have I Told You Lately" by Van Morrison, "Reason to Believe", "Having a Party", and "People Get Ready" were released as singles, with "Have I Told You Lately" and "Having a Party" reaching success as singles. A special collector's edition was released in March 2009 on Rhino Records. This two-disc package included the DVD of the MTV performance with 13 songs while the CD contained 17 tracks including two songs not on the original 1993 release.
