
Ameer Sultan is an Indian film director, producer and actor, working in the Tamil film industry. He has directed four films. He made his acting debut in Yogi (2009).

Manikkavacakar or MaanikkaVaasagar was a 9th-century Tamil poet who wrote Tiruvasakam, a book of Shaiva hymns. He was one of the main authors of Saivite Tirumurai, his work forms volume eight of the Tirumurai, the key religious text of Tamil language Shaiva Siddhanta. A minister to the Pandya king Varagunavarman II, he lived in Madurai. His work is a poetic expression of the joy of God-experience, the anguish of being separated from God. Although he is a prominent saint in Southern India, he is not counted among the sixty-three nayanars.

Solomon Pappaiah, also known as Solomon Pappiah and Salomon Pappayah is an Indian scholar and a television icon in Tamil Nadu, India. He is best known for moderating Tamil language debate talk shows, known as 'patti mandrams', which have been airing on Sun TV for quite a long time. He is credited for taking social themes to the masses and has so far moderated over 12,000 debates programmes across the globe. He is carrying Tamil literature service for almost 60 years and is considered as one of the greatest Tamil scholars. His modest approach in speaking and life has earned him a large reputation among Tamil-speaking people throughout the world.

Syed Abdul Rahman was a Tamil poet from Tamil Nadu, India. He was known by the title KAVIKKO. He was ex-chairman of Waqf board of Tamil Nadu.

Gopi Shankar Madurai is an Indian equal rights and Indigenous rights activist. Shankar was one of the youngest, and the first openly intersex and genderqueer, candidates to contest in 2016 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election. Shankar is also the founder of Srishti Madurai Student Volunteer Collective. Shankar’s work inspired the Madras High Court to direct the Government of Tamil Nadu to order a ban on sex reassignment surgeries on intersex children. In December 2017 Shankar was elected to the Executive board of ILGA Asia. In August 2020 the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment appointed Shankar as the South Regional representative in the National Council for Transgender Persons.

S. Venkatesan also known as Su. Venkatesan is a Tamil writer from Tamil Nadu, India and Tamil Nadu State Committee member of CPI(M). His debutant novel Kavalkottam published in 2008 was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for Tamil in 2011. The film Aravaan is based on it. His second novel Veera Yuga Nayagan Velpari was serialised in Tamil popular magazine Ananda Vikatan. He is the general secretary of the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association. S. Venkatesan contested as CPI(M) candidate in the General elections 2019 from Madurai. He was elected to the Lok Sabha with a margin of 1.39 Lakhs of votes.
