
Sergei Uasyl-ipa Bagapsh was the second President of the Republic of Abkhazia. He was Prime Minister from 1997 to 1999 and was later elected as President in 2005. He was re-elected in the 2009 presidential election. He died on 29 May 2011, at the age of 62, from complications of surgery.

Lieutenant General Anatoly Nikolayevich Khrulyov is a Russian general who was the commander of the Russian 58th Army from 2006 until his retirement in 2010. He saw service in South Ossetia during the 2008 Russo-Georgian War, in the course of which he was wounded when his military column moving into Tskhinvali was attacked by Georgian forces on 9 August 2008. On 18 May 2015, he was appointed Chief of the General Staff of the armed forces of Georgia's breakaway Republic of Abkhazia, in which position he was succeeded, 3 August 2018, by Major General Vasily Lunyov, also a career Russian officer.

From May 2015 until November 2016, Saakashvili was the Governor of Ukraine's Odessa Oblast. He is the founder and former chairman of the United National Movement party. Saakashvili heads Ukraine's National Reform Council since 7 May 2020.

Vladimir Anatolyevich Shamanov is a retired Colonel General of the Russian Armed Forces, who was Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Airborne Troops (VDV) from May 2009 to October 2016 and a former Russian politician. After his retirement in October 2016, Shamanov became head of the State Duma Defense Committee.

Tarkhan Tayumurazovich Batirashvili, known by his nom de guerre Omar al-Shishani, was a Georgian Chechen jihadist who served as a commander for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, and was previously as a sergeant in the Georgian Army.
