
Serafima Tarasovna Amosova was the deputy commander of flight operations in the 46th Guards Night Bomber Aviation Regiment during the Second World War.

Yevdokia Bershanskaya was the regimental commander of the 46th Taman Guards Night Bomber Aviation Regiment during World War II and became the only woman ever awarded the Order of Suvorov. Under her command twenty-three aviators in the regiment became Heroes of the Soviet Union for their successful bombing missions against the Axis.

Yekaterina Vasilyevna Budanova, nicknamed Katya (Катя),, was a fighter pilot in the Soviet Air Force during World War II. With five air victories, along with Lydia Litvyak, she was one of the world's two female fighter aces. She was shot down by either Luftwaffe ace Georg Schwientek of JG 52 or ace Emil Bitsch, of JG 3.

As of July 2019, she was the chief of staff of the Joint Force Space Component Command at Peterson Air Force Base.

Lydia Vladimirovna Litvyak, also known as Lilya, was a fighter pilot in the Soviet Air Force during World War II. Historians' estimates for her total victories range from five to twelve solo victories and two to four shared kills in her 66 combat sorties. In about two years of operations, she was the first female fighter pilot to shoot down an enemy aircraft, the first of two female fighter pilots who have earned the title of fighter ace and the holder of the record for the greatest number of kills by a female fighter pilot. She was shot down near Orel during the Battle of Kursk as she attacked a formation of German aircraft.

Anne Charlotte McClain is a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, engineer and a NASA astronaut. Her call sign, "Annimal", dates back to her bruising rugby days; she also uses the call sign in her Twitter handle, AstroAnnimal. She was a Flight Engineer for Expedition 58/59 to the International Space Station.

Sally D. Murphy is a retired colonel who served as a United States Army Aviator. She was the first female U.S. Army helicopter pilot to graduate from flight school at Fort Rucker, Alabama on June 4, 1974. She served as a leader for units within the 330th Army Security Agency Company, 1st Infantry Division, the 62nd Aviation Company, and the 78th Aviation Battalion. In 2009, Murphy received the U.S. Army Freedom Team Salute Veteran Commendation to commemorate her 27 years of service and her place in military history.

Laura Jane Strickland Richardson is a lieutenant general in the United States Army and commanding general of United States Army North. She previously served as deputy commanding general of United States Army Forces Command. As an army aviator, Richardson flew Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters. Promoted to brigadier general in 2011, she served in various commands at Fort Hood and served as chief of staff for communication in the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. In June 2017, she was promoted to lieutenant general and appointed deputy commanding general of United States Army Forces Command (FORSCOM). Richardson served as acting commander of FORSCOM from October 2018 until March 2019. In April 2019, she was nominated to serve as the first female commander of United States Army North. She assumed command on July 8, 2019.

Yevgeniya Dmitrievna Timofeeva was a pilot in the Soviet Air Force and the first woman to fly the Pe-2. As a member of the 587th Bomber Aviation Regiment, later redesignated as the 125th Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment named after Marina Raskova, she initially served as a squadron commander but was later promoted to deputy regimental commander during the war. By the end of the war she accumulated 45 sorties on the Pe-2.

Major General Laura L. Yeager is an officer in the Army National Guard. Effective June 29, 2019 she became the commander of the National Guard's 40th Infantry Division. She is the first woman to command a United States Army infantry division.

Yekaterina Ivanovna Zelenko was a Soviet Su-2 pilot who flew during the Winter War and World War II. She remains the only woman ever alleged to have performed an aerial ramming, though in recent years historians have begun to question the credibility of such reports.
