Admiral Farragut Academy, established in 1933, is a private, college prep school serving students in grades PreK-12. Farragut is located in St. Petersburg, Florida in Pinellas County and is surrounded by the communities of Treasure Island, Gulfport, Pasadena, Tierra Verde, and Seminole. Farragut also serves North Pinellas County, which includes the communities of Clearwater, Belleair, and Palm Harbor.

Bataan Military Academy was a tuition-free, co-ed, college-prep public day high school. All cadets were members of the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Corps, the U.S. Navy's youth organization. Bataan opened at the beginning of the 2007–2008 school year with freshmen and sophomores. The school closed at the end of the 2015–2016 school year due to declining enrollment.

Benedictine College Preparatory is a private Roman Catholic military high school in Goochland, Virginia. It is owned and operated by the Benedictine Society of Virginia, part of the American-Cassinese Congregation. Benedictine offers education through a private military institute model, which has long been a traditional form of education for young men in Virginia.

Blees Military Academy, also known as Still-HiIdreth Osteopathic Sanatorium, is a historic military academy located in Macon, Missouri. The academy operated between 1899 and 1907. The old Academic Hall and Gymnasium of Blees Academy were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The State of South Carolina has recognized the institution as the official state military academy of South Carolina. Camden Military Academy accepts male students in grades 7 through 12, also offering a post-graduate year.

Carlisle Military School was established in 1892 at Bamberg, South Carolina, as The Carlisle Fitting School of Wofford College and closed in 1977. This school was named in honor of Dr. James H. Carlisle, who was the president of Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina (1875–1902) and one of the most preeminent educators in the history of South Carolina. Dr. Carlisle stated that "The student ought to be educated not simply or chiefly because he intends to become a farmer, lawyer, or statesman, but because he is a human being - with inlets of joy, with possibilities of effort and action that no trade or calling can satisfy or exhaust".

Carson Long Military Academy in New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania was the oldest continually operating college preparatory boarding school and military academy in the United States with mandatory military training for boys in grades 6-12. Maximum enrollment was approximately 235 student cadets. The school has left great legacy behind, having been considered as one of the best military boarding schools throughout its time.

George Washington Carver Military Academy is a public 4–year military high school located in the Riverdale area on the far south side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Opened in 1947, The school is operated by the Chicago Public Schools. Carver is named for African-American scientist and educator George Washington Carver.

Chicago Military Academy-Bronzeville is a public 4–year military high school located in the Bronzeville neighborhood located on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, in a building known as the Eighth Regiment Armory. The academy opened on August 24, 1999. The Academy includes a mandatory Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) instructional component in addition to a four-year college preparatory curriculum.

Cleveland Junior Naval Academy is a magnet military academy high school in St. Louis, Missouri and is a part of the St. Louis Public Schools. Cleveland High School opened in 1915 as a comprehensive high school, merging with the Junior Naval Academy in 1984. The Junior Naval Academy was a magnet military academy, founded in 1981. In 2006, the school moved from its original location on Louisiana Avenue (38.5777°N 90.2429°W) to the Pruitt Military Academy building on North 22nd Street, then, in 2010, it moved from Pruitt to the Southwest High School building at Arsenal and Kingshighway.

The Delaware Military Academy is a publicly funded charter high school in Wilmington, Delaware.The Academy was founded in 2003 by Charles Baldwin, a retired Master Chief Petty Officer from the United States Navy, and Jack Wintermantel, a retired Colonel from the United States Army. All students are required to participate in the Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps, or NJROTC. It enrolls about 560 cadets in grades nine through twelve, and enjoys academic recognition from the state of Delaware and the United States Navy. As a public charter school, there are no admission requirements. The school uses an application and interview, but its selections are governed by charter school law.

Dr. Holbrook's Military School was a military academy and boarding school for boys. The school was located in the town of Ossining and overlooked the Hudson River. After the 1906 annexation of Scarborough by the village of Briarcliff Manor, Holbrook's became part of the village within Ossining.

Hargrave Military Academy (HMA) is a private, all-male, military boarding school located in the town of Chatham, Virginia. Hargrave is affiliated with the Baptist General Association of Virginia emphasizing Christian values that focuses on a college and military preparatory program. The school serves boys from around the world for grade 7 through post-graduate (PG). Hargrave was named a National School of Character in 2016. Hargrave is accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools and nationally by AdvancEd, and is a member of the Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States and the National Association of Independent Schools. The school's campus is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Howe Military Academy was a private, co-educational and college preparatory boarding school located on a 100-acre (0.40 km2) campus in Northeast Indiana. The school enrolls students in grades 7-12. On March 18, 2019 Howe announced it will be closing its doors permanently after the 2019 school year.

New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) is a public military junior college in Roswell, New Mexico. Founded in 1891, NMMI operates under the auspices of the State of New Mexico, under a dedicated Board of Regents that reports to the Governor of New Mexico. A land-grant institution located in the city center of Roswell, New Mexico, NMMI enrolls nearly 1,000 cadets at the junior college and high school levels each year. NMMI is the only state-supported military college located in the western United States and has many notable alumni that have served at senior levels in the military and private sector.

New York Military Academy (NYMA) is a college preparatory, co-ed boarding school in the rural town of Cornwall, 60 miles (97 km) north of New York City, and one of the oldest military schools in the United States. Originally a boys' school, it started admitting girls in 1975. On March 3, 2015, NYMA filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and was sold at auction to Chinese-owned foundation Research Center on Natural Conservation Inc. which reopened the school in November 2015. The Research Center then poured millions of dollars into the campus to support instruction and capital improvements. The campus also has been host to popular camps like Camp All America into the 1980s and currently the NYMA Leadership Program. It is famous for admitting current President Donald Trump between 1959 and 1964.

The school opened for the 2004–2005 school year as the Philadelphia Military Academy at Leeds in the Cedarbrook neighborhood of Philadelphia. The school opened with an enrollment of 157 ninth grade cadets. The academy was housed at the Leeds middle school. A second edition of the program was housed at Elverson High School in the 2005–2006 school year. This site is the current location of the school after a merger in the latter years

The Puget Sound Naval Academy was a private, military style preparatory school intended to prepare young men and boys for attendance at the United States Naval Academy and the United States Coast Guard Academy. It was located in Bainbridge Island, Washington.

Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA) is a coeducational college preparatory school for students in grades 6–12 and postgraduates in Front Royal, Virginia, US. The school was founded in 1892 and features both boarding and day programs. Randolph-Macon Academy is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy (SJNMA) was founded in 1884 as St. John's Military Academy (SJMA) in Delafield, Wisconsin, by Rev. Sidney T. Smythe as a private, college preparatory and leadership development school. In 1995, Northwestern Military and Naval Academy (NMNA) in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, merged with St. John's Military Academy to become St. John's Northwestern Military Academy on the Delafield campus. SJNMA is principally a boarding school for boys and girls in grades 7–12, but also has an active day program. The Academy also offers several summer programs including an adventure camp, summer school and English as a Second Language courses.

Valley Forge Military Academy and College (VFMAC) is a private college preparatory boarding school and military junior college in Wayne, Pennsylvania. It follows in the traditional military school format with Army traditions. Though military in tradition and form, the high school portion of VFMAC, Valley Forge Military Academy, is a college preparatory boarding institution specializing on student leadership. VFMAC's administration is composed almost entirely of current or retired military. The Board of Trustees are almost entirely alumni. Some graduates pursue careers in the armed services, and VFMAC has one Rhodes Scholarship recipient. The school has established a tradition with the British Monarchy and follows an American military academy model and practices the American Army tradition.
