Merle Egan Anderson was a member of the United States Army Signal Corps' Female Telephone Operators Unit during World War I. She is one of the first 447 female veterans of the U.S. Army. She is credited for persisting in the effort to gain the Operators Unit veterans' status, which was eventually awarded by President Jimmy Carter, in 1979.

Robert Blake was a highly decorated Major General in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was a recipient of the second highest decorations of the Army and Navy, the Distinguished Service Cross and the Navy Cross, both of which he earned during his service in World War I. Blake also received second Navy Cross during Nicaraguan Campaign.

He was formerly the committee chairman, then in 1995, ranking minority member on the House Ethics Committee. On January 4, 2016, he announced that he would not be seeking another congressional term.

Major General Howard Samuel McGee (1915–2005) was born in Port Townsend, Washington on October 4, 1915. McGee attended the University of Washington from 1935 to 1940. While at the University McGee was enrolled in the ROTC program and subsequently commissioned as second lieutenant, Coast Artillery Corps, Officers Reserve Corps on 15 March 1940.

Walter Carleton Monegan Jr. was a United States Marine in the Korean War. On September 20, 1950, he was killed in action near Sosa-ri during the Battle of Inchon in South Korea. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions above and beyond the call of duty on September 17 and 20, which helped to repulse a six-tank enemy attack on his battalion's position and then an overwhelming tank-infantry attack threatening to destroy his company at their position. He was killed after he proceeded to methodically knock out two of the three remaining enemy tanks at close range with his bazooka while under enemy fire.
