
Navy Installations Command (CNIC) is an Echelon II shore command responsible for all shore installations under the control of the United States Navy. As an Echelon II command, it reports directly to the Chief of Naval Operations. It is responsible for the operation and management of all Naval installations worldwide through eleven Navy Regions.

Naval District Washington is one of eleven current naval regions responsible to Commander, Navy Installations Command for the operation and management of Naval shore installations in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area. The Commandant is currently the only remaining Naval Districts from the 1900s era, making it, by default the oldest of the current naval regions. The Commandant is headquartered at the Washington Navy Yard only a few yards away from the Commander, Navy Installations Command headquarters.

Navy Region Europe, Africa, Central (EURAFCENT) is one of eleven current naval regions responsible for the operation and management of Naval shore installations and assigned staff in the European, African and Southwest Asian theaters of operation. EURAFCENT provides the shore support to the United States Naval Forces Europe-Africa, however it is a part of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC). Due to its large area, the region is one of the three CNIC regions commanded by a two star Rear Admiral, currently RADM Christopher Scott Gray, and is headquartered on Naval Support Activity Naples Italy.

Navy Region Hawaii is one of eleven current naval regions responsible to Commander, Navy Installations Command for the operation and management of Naval shore installations in Hawaii. The region is commanded by RDML Robert B. Chadwick, who also serves additionally as the commander of Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific.

Navy Region Mid-Atlantic is one of eleven current naval regions responsible to Commander, Navy Installations Command for the operation and management of Naval shore installations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

Navy Region Northwest is one of several United States Navy Regions responsible to Commander, Navy Installations Command for the operation and management of Naval shore installations in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Iowa.

Navy Region Southeast is one of eleven current naval regions responsible to Commander, Navy Installations Command for the operation and management of Naval shore installations in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina. It is headquartered onboard Naval Air Station Jacksonville, in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.

Navy Region Southwest is one of eleven current naval regions responsible to Commander, Navy Installations Command for the operation and management of Naval shore installations in California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico. It is headquartered across from the Broadway Pier in Downtown San Diego. The command also serves as the regional coordinator for the Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, headquartered in Hawaii, coordinating support for bases in Southern California and Nevada.
