Ayame is a player character in the Tenchu series of stealth games. Introduced in Acquire's Tenchu: Stealth Assassins in 1998, Ayame is a young prodigy assassin in a historical fantasy version of the 16th century Japan, who has been adopted by a ninja master and raised along with her partner Rikimaru to serve a local clan's lord. She is one of the lead characters in all subsequent installments of Tenchu except of Tenchu Z and has been well received by gaming mass media, often perceived as one of the top assassins and best female ninja characters in video games.

Cal Kestis is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He is the player character of the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, an action-adventure game developed by Respawn Entertainment. Within the series, Cal is a former Jedi Padawan who survived the Great Jedi Purge and went into hiding. Years later, he is detected using the Force and is then led on a journey to rebuild the Jedi Order. He is portrayed through performance capture by American actor and model Cameron Monaghan.

Dante , also known under the alias of Tony Redgrave , is a fictional character in the video game series Devil May Cry, created and published by Capcom. Introduced as the protagonist of the 2001 game with the same name, Dante is a demon-hunting vigilante dedicated to exterminating them and other supernatural foes in revenge for losing his mother Eva and having his twin brother, Vergil, lost. He is the son of Sparda, inheriting superhuman powers which he uses with a variety of weapons in the games. The character also appears in several Devil May Cry novels and manga volumes and is featured in the 2007 anime television series. Dante has also made multiple guest appearances in crossover games. An alternate version of the character was created by Ninja Theory for their game DmC: Devil May Cry, which is set in a separate universe from the main series.

Date Masamune is a fictional videogame character from Capcom's popular action game franchise, Sengoku Basara, first introduced in the 2005 video game Devil Kings. In the North American and European versions, he is known as a warrior named Azure Dragon, but retained his original name in the series' third title. As with most Sengoku Basara characters, Masamune was loosely based on Japanese historical figure Date Masamune.

Ellie is a character in the video games The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II by Naughty Dog. She is portrayed by Ashley Johnson through performance capture. In the first game, the character Joel is tasked with escorting a 14-year-old Ellie across a post-apocalyptic United States in an attempt to create a cure for an infection to which Ellie is immune. While players briefly assume control of Ellie for a portion of the game, the artificial intelligence primarily controls her actions, often assisting in combat by attacking or identifying enemies.

Emily Kaldwin is a fictional character of the Dishonored series. She is a lead protagonist in the sequel, Dishonored 2. In the story of the first game, she is the daughter of the Empress and the player-character, Corvo. When the Empress is assassinated and Emily kidnapped, the player recovers Emily whereupon she serves as a moral compass by expressing herself differently based on the player's proclivity for violence in their gameplay choices. Emily reigns for 15 years leading up to the sequel's story, when she is usurped and escapes to plot her revenge. Her announcement as its protagonist was unveiled as a surprise and welcomed by games journalists as emblematic of progress for female representation in video games, leading an industry trend towards more prevalent lead female protagonists at the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Sam Fisher is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell series of video games developed by Ubisoft as well as a series of tie-in novels endorsed by Tom Clancy. His full name is first seen in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, the first game of the series, when he was using the computer in the V-22 Osprey to encrypt his home call. Fisher was originally voiced by veteran actor Michael Ironside in the first five installments of the series. In 2013, Eric Johnson assumed the voice and physical role in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Ironside later returned to the role in 2018, participating in a crossover downloadable content for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands and again in 2020 for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. Goro Majima is a major recurring character in Sega's Yakuza video game series and one of the main playable protagonists of Yakuza 0 and Yakuza: Dead Souls, as well as the Majima Saga of Yakuza Kiwami 2. Introduced as a member of the Tojo clan, Majima takes an interest in the lifestyle of the protagonist Kazuma Kiryu. He is seeking continually to fight him, seeing him as a rival but bonds with him across the franchise. Majima's character is explored in more detail during the prequel Yakuza 0, in which he is a 24-year-old former Yakuza and a playable protagonist along with Kiryu. In this game, Majima has a calmer demeanor that develops during a war between a number of families in a fight for a patch of land known as the Empty Lot. Majima also appears in the spin-off Dead Souls as well as the crossover Project X Zone 2. He is voiced by Hidenari Ugaki in Japanese, while Mark Hamill voices him in the English dub for the first entry and Matthew Mercer voices him in the English dub of Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

Hana Tsu-Vachel is a player character in the Fear Effect horror video game series for the PlayStation. She was introduced in Fear Effect in 1999 and is most notable and remembered because of her controversial bisexual relationship in the game's 2001 prequel Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix. She was supposed to return in the canceled sequel Fear Effect Inferno for the PlayStation 2.

Haruka Sawamura is a fictional character from Sega's action-adventure game series Yakuza. Introduced in the first Yakuza game, Haruka is a young child who is looking for her missing mother. The character Kazuma Kiryu adopts her to protect her from multiple clans from the Tojo clan who are seeking her. Across the series, Haruka grows up alongside her adoptive father, debuting as a playable character in Yakuza 5 working as an idol and starting her own family in Yakuza 6. Haruka is voiced by Rie Kugimiya in Japanese, and by Debi Derryberry in the English version of the first game.

Jade is a fictional character and the protagonist of the action-adventure video game Beyond Good & Evil. She is a photo-journalist, and was created by Ubisoft developer Michel Ancel, with the goal of creating a character resembling a real person, rather than a "sexy action woman". In Beyond Good & Evil, she and her uncle Pey'j, a half-pig half-human, work together to both rescue orphans they were taking care of and expose governmental corruption.

Jak is a fictional character and primary protagonist of the Jak and Daxter series, and the titular playable character in all games in the series except the spin-off game Daxter. He was created by Naughty Dog Inc, and made cross-over appearances in PlayStation Move Heroes and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, serving as one of three protagonists in the game former. Kain is a fictional character, and the main protagonist and title character of the Legacy of Kain video game series. First introduced in Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain in 1996, he was created by Denis Dyack and Silicon Knights, and has appeared in all subsequent Legacy of Kain games under the direction of developer Crystal Dynamics. Between games, he serves as either the central playable character, or as an antagonist, but in all his depictions he has consistently been described as an antihero.

Kazuma Kiryu is a fictional character and the main protagonist in Sega's action-adventure Japanese role-playing game series Yakuza. He was introduced in the 2005 game with the same name as fearsome yakuza nicknamed "the Dragon of Dojima" . Kiryu takes the blame for his boss' death to protect his best friend Akira Nishikiyama, resulting in his expulsion from the clan and a ten-year stay in prison. After leaving prison, Kiryu learns the crime world has changed and fights against the new threats in his life. He is voiced by Takaya Kuroda in Japanese and by Darryl Kurylo in the English version of the first game which he reprises 15 years later for Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Besides the two Yakuza live-action films, the character has also appeared in other video game including Project X Zone 2 and as downloadable content in Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise.

Kratos is a video game character and the protagonist of SIE Santa Monica Studio's God of War series, which was based on Greek mythology, before shifting to Norse mythology. Kratos, also known as the "Ghost of Sparta", first appeared in the 2005 video game God of War, which led to the development of seven additional games featuring the character as the protagonist. Kratos also appears as the protagonist of the 2010 and 2018 comic series, as well as the franchise's three novels that retell the events of three of the games. The character was voiced by Terrence C. Carson from 2005 to 2013, with Christopher Judge taking over the role in 2018's continuation, also titled God of War. Antony Del Rio voiced the character as a child in God of War: Ghost of Sparta.

John Marston is a fictional character in the Red Dead video game series by Rockstar Games. He is the playable protagonist of the 2010 video game Red Dead Redemption, wherein he must deal with the decline of the Wild West while later being forced to hunt down the last surviving members of his old gang in exchange for his family. John is also the protagonist of Undead Nightmare, the zombie apocalypse-themed downloadable content. The character returned as the secondary playable protagonist of the 2018 prequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, which depicts his life in the gang and his attempts to start a life for his family.

Duke Nukem is a fictional character and protagonist of the Duke Nukem series of video games. The character first appeared in the 1991 video game Duke Nukem, developed by Apogee Software. He has since starred in multiple sequels developed by 3D Realms. Most recently, he starred in Duke Nukem Forever, released by Gearbox Software, which now owns the rights and intellectual property.

The Outsider is a fictional supernatural being in Arkane Studios' Dishonored franchise, residing in an empty otherworldly dimension called the Void. After appearing in promotional webisodes, the character made his game debut in Dishonored (2012), where he grants magical powers to the player character. He serves a similar role in the game's sequel, Dishonored 2 (2016), though he may be rejected. The Outsider reappears in Dishonored: Death of the Outsider (2017), which follows former-assassin Billie Lurk as she attempts to kill or otherwise neutralize him. Within the series' fiction, the Outsider is one of many representations of the Void that have existed, and was originally a street urchin before being sacrificed by a cult. Voiced by Billy Lush in the first game, the actor was replaced by Robin Lord Taylor for Dishonored 2 onwards.

The Prince is the name given to a group of fictional characters who act as the main protagonists of the Prince of Persia franchise, developed and published by Ubisoft. There have been several distinct Prince characters, all sharing general traits. The most prominent version was first featured in the 2003 game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, who has featured in a large number of games set within that game's continuity. In the 2008 reboot, the Prince is not from a royal family, but was planned to earn his title during the course of his journey.

Raziel is a fictional character and a main protagonist in the Legacy of Kain video game series. Introduced in 1999 as the lead and playable character of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, he was created by Amy Hennig, Seth Carus and Arnold Ayala of Crystal Dynamics. Rynn is a fictional character and protagonist of the Drakan series of fantasy action-adventure video games by Surreal Software, featured in the games Drakan: Order of the Flame and Drakan: The Ancients' Gates, and in their comic book adaptation.

Ryuji Goda , is a fictional character from Sega's action-adventure game Yakuza series, first appearing in 2006's Yakuza 2, and also appearing in its 2017 remake, Yakuza Kiwami 2. Goda also appears as one of the main characters in the sixth installment of the series, Yakuza: Dead Souls, which does not follow the series' canon and is set in an alternate timeline where Goda survives his wounds at the end of Yakuza 2. Goda is most recently featured as the protagonist of a prequel story arc in Ryu ga Gotoku ONLINE, a freemium collectible card game spin-off exclusive to Japan.

Sanada Yukimura is a fictional videogame character from Capcom's popular action game franchise, Sengoku Basara. He was first introduced in the 2005 hack and slash video game Devil Kings but was renamed "Scorpio" for the North American and European versions. A young samurai serving the Takeda clan, Sanada Yukimura, fights in the Sengoku period to help his clan unify Japan. While the first four games involve his growth as a samurai and deal with him taking over leadership, the spin-off game Sengoku Basara Sanada Yukimura-Den follows the character's backstory. He has also appeared in the series' anime, manga, stage play, and drama CD adaptations.

Spyro is the titular main character and protagonist of the Spyro video game series, including The Legend of Spyro, and a guest character in the Skylanders series, first appearing in Spyro the Dragon in 1998.

Travis Touchdown is a fictional character and the main antihero of the video game franchise No More Heroes. 27 years old in the original game, he is both an otaku and a professional assassin, wielding a Beam Katana. He was created by Goichi Suda, and voiced by Kazuya Nakai in Japanese and Robin Atkin Downes in English.

Vergil is a fictional character from the Devil May Cry series that was created and published by Capcom. He was introduced in the first Devil May Cry game as a boss called Nelo Angelo . Vergil is one of two hybrid sons of a demon knight called Sparda and as a result possesses supernatural powers. He has appeared in three video games as one of the main antagonists opposing his twin brother, Dante, and in a novel and a manga based on the series. He is the one of the two main antagonists of Devil May Cry 3 and the final antagonist turned anti-hero of Devil May Cry 5. While his demon-half Urizen serves as the central antagonist, his human-half V appears in the latter game as a playable protagonist. A re-booted version of Vergil also appears in the 2013 video game DmC: Devil May Cry as the leader of a group of rouge vigilantes bent on stopping the demon king, Mundus.

Mafia II is a 2010 action-adventure game developed by 2K Czech and published by 2K Games. It was released in August 2010 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360; Mafia II: Director's Cut was released by Feral Interactive in December 2011. The game is a sequel to 2002's Mafia and the second installment in the Mafia series. Set within the fictional city of Empire Bay during the 1940s and 1950s, the story follows Sicillian-American mobster and war veteran Vito Scaletta, who becomes involved in a power struggle among the city's Mafia crime families while attempting to pay back his father's debts and secure a better lifestyle.
