
Batavia is a town in Saramacca District, in the north of Suriname, in the Calcutta resort of the Saramacca district. There is a little harbour near Batavia where the offices of the Netherlands Trading Society were located. Between 1873 and 1883, indentured workers who were recruited from Java to work the plantations, were transported by the Netherlands Trading Society, and arrived in Batavia.

Boskamp is a town on the East-West Link in Suriname, in the central north of the country, in the Calcutta resort of the Saramacca District. It lies opposite to Jenny, to which it is connected via the Coppename bridge. Boskamp is mainly a fishing village.

Boston is a settlement in Kampong Baroe in the Saramacca District of Suriname, near the resort capital of Kampong Baroe. Boston was founded as a wood plantation in 1819, and abandoned in 1828.

Calcutta is a resort in Suriname, located in the Saramacca District. Its population at the 2012 census was 1,647, and is mainly inhabited by East Indians. The town is named after Calcutta, India. From 1873 onwards, indentured workers were recruited from India to work the plantations. Most of the workers departed from Calcutta. About one third returned to India, but most decided to stay in Suriname.

Groningen is the capital town of the Saramacca District, Suriname.

Jarikaba is a resort in Suriname, located in the Saramacca District. Its population at the 2012 census was 5,963. Bananas form the backbone of the economy. Food And Agriculture Industries, the main employer, has 1,200 hectares under cultivation, and a workforce of more than 1,000 people. Food And Agriculture Industries used export only to Europe, but as of 2018 supplies much of the Caribbean.

Kampong Baroe is a resort in Suriname, located in the Saramacca District. Its population at the 2012 census was 2,248, the majority being Javanese, and East Indian. The main agricultural crop is peanuts. Kampong Baroe also contains pig, and chicken farms.

Smithfield is a settlement in the Saramacca District of Suriname, about ten kilometres (6.2 mi) north of the district capital, Groningen. It is named after plantation Smithfield. Staatsolie operates a yard in Sarah Maria near Smithfield.

Tijgerkreek is a resort in Suriname, located in the Saramacca District. Its population at the 2012 census was 3,244, the majority being Javanese, and East Indian. The resort is mainly agricultural. In the 21st century, there has been an emphasis on peanuts. The development of a modern agricultural centre is being planned.

Wayamboweg is a resort in Suriname, located in the Saramacca District. Its population at the 2012 census was 1,560. The largest ethnic group is East Indian. The resort is mainly agricultural. A rice project has started in late 2017.
