WThe Allegheny River is a 325-mile (523 km) long headwater stream of the Ohio River in western Pennsylvania and New York, United States. The Allegheny River runs from its headwaters just below the middle of Pennsylvania's northern border northwesterly into New York then in a zigzag southwesterly across the border and through Western Pennsylvania to join the Monongahela River at the Forks of the Ohio on the "Point" of Point State Park in Downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Allegheny River is, by volume, the main headstream of both the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. Historically, the Allegheny was considered to be the upper Ohio River by both Native Americans and European settlers.
WBrunot Island is a 129-acre (52 ha) island in the Ohio River. It is officially part of the Marshall-Shadeland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania in the United States. It was named for Dr. Felix Brunot who settled the island with his extended family in the late 1700s. The family entertained the Lewis and Clark expedition on the island in August 1803. The island is home to the Brunot Island Generating Station, a 315 MW fossil fuel power plant.

WPanther Hollow is a wooded valley in Schenley Park that runs within the park west to east approximately 1.5 miles, beginning at Boundary Street in Junction Hollow and ending near Hobart Street in Squirrel Hill. The hollow features the man-made Panther Hollow Lake, on the east end of which is the confluence of Panther Hollow Run and Phipps Run. Created in the 1880s, Panther Hollow Lake was once the center of a busy picnic and recreational area that included a boat house adjacent to the lake from which couples could rent boats for an afternoon. The boathouse was razed in the 1930s. Today, hiking trails follow both streams.

It includes within its boundary the Forks of the Ohio, as well as Gateway Center, the Bell Telephone Company Building, and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Building which was constructed in 1927.

WThe South Hills is the southern suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the neighborhoods in the City of Pittsburgh south of the South Side Slopes. The Pittsburgh neighborhoods include Knoxville, Mt. Oliver, Mt. Washington, Beltzhoover, Allentown, Banksville, Beechview, Brookline, Carrick, and Overbrook. Two suburban municipalities that are included in the South Hills outside of Pittsburgh are Bethel Park and Mt. Lebanon, as well as the boroughs of Castle Shannon, Dormont, and Green Tree. The South Hills also includes the townships of Baldwin, Collier, Peters, Scott, South Park, and Upper St. Clair, plus the boroughs of Baldwin, Brentwood, Bridgeville, Mt. Oliver, Heidelberg, Whitehall, Pleasant Hills, Jefferson Hills, and West Mifflin. Much of the South Hills was originally a land grant to John Ormsby.
