Antisana Ecological Reserve is a protected area in Ecuador situated in the Napo Province, Quijos Canton and Archidona Canton.

Arenillas Ecological Reserve is a 17,083-hectare (42,210-acre) protected area in Ecuador situated in the El Oro Province, in the Arenillas Canton and in the Huaquillas Canton.
Cayambe Coca National Park is a national park in Ecuador located along the Equator about 38 km (24 mi) from Quito. The park encompasses an area of 4,031.03 km2.

Cotacachi Cayapas Reserve contains 752,235 acres (3,044 km2) of land and is located in the Imbabura and Esmeraldas provinces of Ecuador 87 miles (140 km) from Quito. Elevations in the reserve range from about 300 metres (980 ft) in the east to Cotacachi Volcano which reaches an elevation of 4,944 metres (16,220 ft) in the southwest. This nature reserve is partly rainforest. The park is mix of many biological zones but, the Andean and Sub-tropical zones are most common. The symbol of the reserve is a condor. This is one of the many protected areas in Ecuador.

The Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve is the second largest reserve of the 56 national parks and protected areas in Ecuador. It is located in the Putumayo Canton in the Sucumbíos Province and in the Aguarico Canton in the Orellana Province. It was decreed on 26 July 1979 as part of the creation of the national protected areas system based on the recommendations of the FAO report on the "National Strategy on the Conservation of Outstanding Wild Areas of Ecuador".

The Galápagos Marine Reserve (GMR) lies a thousand kilometres from the Ecuadorian mainland and covers an area of around 133,000 km2 (51,000 sq mi). The Galápagos Islands and the surrounding waters represent one of the world’s most unusual ecosystems and are rich areas of biodiversity. Recently granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status, the Galápagos Marine Reserve is the largest marine reserve in a developing country and the second largest reserve in the world.

Illinizas Ecological Reserve is a protected area in Ecuador, located in the provinces of Cotopaxi and Pichincha. The reserve consists of 149,900 hectares, and lies 55 kilometers south of Quito.

The Mache-Chindul Ecological Reserve is an ecological reserve in the provinces of Esmeraldas and Manabí, Ecuador. It protects a mountainous area in the transition from tropical rain forest in the north to dry forest in the south. It contains the Cube Lagoon, which has been designated a Ramsar wetland of international importance.

Maquipucuna is a 6,000 hectare cloud forest reserve in Ecuador. Located in the Pichincha Province, it is the closest pristine rainforest to Quito, Ecuador's capital. The reserve consists of primary and secondary montane rain forest and cloud forest. The Maquipucuna Reserve is located in the parish of Nanegal, within the Metropolitan District of Quito.

Reserva Geobotánica Pululahua is a protected area around Pululahua Volcano in the north of Quito Canton, Pichincha Province, Ecuador. It is 17 km north of Quito, in the northwestern part of the Pomasqui Valley. This sites most notable feature is the "El cráter de Pululahua" which is one of only two volcanic craters inhabited in the world. Often, this reserve is shrouded in a thick layer of clouds or fog. The land here is extremely fertile because it is volcanic (igneous) soil and, as mentioned earlier, is used to cultivate crops. The terrain here is very rugged as for it was once a crater of a volcano.

The Refugio Paz de Las Aves is a 25-hectare (62-acre) private nature reserve in the western foothills of the Ecuadorian Andes. It is located near the equator at 1,969 metres' altitude, between Mindo parish and Nanegalito. Besides grassland and secondary forest, 10 ha of the area is covered by primary forest on steep inclines, that is protected by the owners.

Santa Lucia Cloud Forest is a cloud forest reserve, located about 80 km northwest of Quito, in the province of Pichincha, in Ecuador. This is at the far south of the southern phase of the Choco-Andean Rainforest Corridor. Rainforest Concern works with the Santa Lucia co-operative, a community-based conservation organisation dedicated to conservation and to sustainable development so that they can make a modest living whilst conserving their remaining cloud forest.
