The Kpandai District is one of twenty administrative districts in the Northern Region of Ghana. The district shares boundaries with East Gonja to the west, Nanumba South to the north, Nkwanta North and Nkwanta South to the East and Krachi West to the south. Kpandai District's capital is the eponymous city of Kpandai. The district was created in 2008 by carving out an area of what was previously East Gonja District.

Larabanga is a village in West Gonja district, a district in north western Northern Region of Ghana. The village is known for its whitewashed, adobe Sahelian mosque, said to date from 1421. It was at the height of the trans-Saharan trade. It is reputed to be Ghana's oldest mosque and houses a copy of the Qur'an almost as old.

Nyankpala is a town in the Tolon-Kumbungu District, about 10 miles south-west of Tamale, the capital of the Northern Region in north Ghana. The University for Development Studies (UDS) has a campus located in Nyankpala. This campus is the first of the University's four campuses, the first to be established in northern Ghana. Nyankpala is the hub for some important Government Institutions including the headquarters of Savanna Agricultural Research Institute (SARI) of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), an on-farm station of the Animal Research Institute (ARI), onfarm station of the Soil Research Institute. The Avnash rice industry has a plant located in the town. This research institutes has been visited occasionally by students and academics who are on educational tour.

Sang is a town in the Northern Region of north Ghana. The Mion District is one of the new districts created in 2018 in Ghana. It used to be part of the Yendi Municipal District. It is the capital of the Mion District. The largest town to the west is Tamale and to the east is Yendi.
