Ancient Rome is a name given to each of three almost identical paintings by Italian artist Giovanni Paolo Panini, produced as pendant paintings to Modern Rome for his patron, the comte de Stainville, in the 1750s.

Goethe in the Roman Campagna is a painting by Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein, a German Neoclassical painter, depicting Johann Wolfgang von Goethe when the writer was travelling in Italy. Goethe's book on his travels to Italy from 1786–88, called Italian Journey, was published in 1816–17; the book is based on his diaries. Since 1887, the painting has been in the possession of the Städel Museum in Goethe's hometown Frankfurt.

A Group of Danish Artists in Rome is an 1837 oil painting by the Danish Golden Age artist Constantin Hansen. The work depicts a group of Danish painters, architects, and other artists in a Roman hotel room; those painters depicted are Hansen himself, Michael Gottlieb Bindesbøll, Martinus Rørbye, Wilhelm Marstrand, Albert Küchler, Ditlev Blunck, and Jørgen Sonne.

Picture Gallery with Views of Modern Rome or simply Modern Rome is a name given to each of three almost identical paintings by Italian artist Giovanni Paolo Panini in the 1750s. The original painting shows the arrangement of paintings originally commissioned by Étienne François, Count of Stainville, later the Duke de Choiseul. He was the ambassador to Rome from between 1753 and 1757. In the painting, Stainville is seated on an armchair. Panini created three different versions of this painting. He created two versions of the painting, both dated 1757, for the Count of Stainville – the original is at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, while the second is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. A couple of years later, he created a slightly different version of this painting for Claude-François de Montboissier de Canillac de Beaufort, which now hangs at the Louvre in Paris.
